So I hatched my first egg and I get that my little Hamlet (I would have named him Eggbert but I digress) likes a certain food I do not recognize. I checked at Daisy and the adult chicken likes Apples but this little guy's favorite food eludes me. It's a Blue/Pink looking like berry (I think?).

Sometimes the ducks and geese give you golden egg when you feed them their favorite food.
You can get merryberries from other houses. Also, you could check the seed shop to see if they're selling the merryberry houseplant, since they do in fact sell that plant. Though I forget which season they sell it.

Merryberry Houseplant should be either Winter or Spring as that's when the seeds for the plant sprout.

Also at age 44-45 do the chickens just stop producing eggs because of old age? Barely had them for a whole season and now they stopped producing eggs.

Looks like picking up the chickens again and placing them on the nest resets them. Now they’re laying eggs like normal.

Merryberry in a pot is not reliable though.
Unless you get that one item.
