Raising Chickens for Dummies (me, obviously)
So I hatched my first egg and I get that my little Hamlet (I would have named him Eggbert but I digress) likes a certain food I do not recognize. I checked at Daisy and the adult chicken likes Apples but this little guy's favorite food eludes me. It's a Blue/Pink looking like berry (I think?).

Bluemato? Merryberry?

Do you have a picture of a chicken in your coup? That will list all the animals assigned to the coup and a picture (a better picture) of its favorite food

Ok, it's definitely a MerryBerry, which I haven't even seen yet because they only grow in Winter? So how else do I feed my chicken? Or can I feed it anything?

Merryberry is a rare seed actually. It won't be sold by Freya. You'll need luck to get it, by getting flightless pigeons, or in chests. I recommend a Greenhouse for growning this berry, and others, and they can be collected forever that way, at any season.
However, there is no need to feed the animals. Feeding them will give you extra produce, and raise their mood too. To get their produce, just have them be outside, and they it will be done outside. The inside of a coop/barn is mostly just for them to sleep.

sell the chicken and get one that has easier to fulfill requirements. To sell the chicken, go to the nest, press c to retrieve it, then toss it in the sell box. Chickens are relatively cheap, even cheaper if you have a hatchery.

I agree with Lady Terra. Put another egg in the incubator and as soon as you have one with easier requirements keep that one. You will want to be able to feed them because they can lay golden eggs.

If it's MerryBerry, you can go to this house to pick.

Check all house and see if there is another one? Cos it takes 6 or more days for "1" berry, lol!
Or see if they sell the MerryBerry pot ( I think it's a 1000 coin for a pot thou if they sell it )

The eggs are stuck behind the chicken?

Do the ducks give anything? I give it food and it’s the only one giving me a whole lot of nothing. I tried the fishing rod to see if something pops out back. Fella is happy as a clam eating his favorite food lol

Goose gives goose egg. But it has to grow for that, just like any other animal. I'm not sure how long it takes for animals to become adults, but should be around 15 to 18 days.
LadyTerra Jul 20, 2024 @ 10:23am
If you bought the animal as an adult, it seems to take a couple of game days for it to produce on your farm.
Jenaverse Jul 20, 2024 @ 10:34am
Ah ok. It’s an adult so I thought it would be faster production rate.

Also at age 44-45 do the chickens just stop producing eggs because of old age? Barely had them for a whole season and now they stopped producing eggs.
