With the expansions/base game you "only" buy the campaign + some of the races.
but i just saw on the starting screen for the f2p game that the campaigns are 3 player co op? that kinda changes things for my group. are there 3 player co op campaigns for all 3 stand alone games? (spellforce 3, soul harvest, and fallen gods) and about how much time does each campaign take? i'd love to do an RTS co op campaign with my friends, but if it's only an 8 hour campaign or something for $50 we'd rather just comp stomp in the $15 version.
I could be totally wrong or just missing the silent majority but the feeling i get from peoples reactions is that the coop is a bit odd feeling; that it doesn't feel like a really standard consistent co-op mode. Although even if that is true it doesn't mean that couldn't be fun. I actually don't mind being a "helper" in those type of co-op modes. Just something to maybe consider depending on your expectations.
Haha though those are some of my favorite memories in some older games-- realizing you could plug a controller into slot 2 and be the inert sidekick. Haha. Or like being the little drone in Jet Force Gemini. I personally don't mind being a "helper" type role. But I understand some people feeling like "wth I don't get my own base?" etc. or whatever.
Soul Harvest also offers a mercenary system where other players can create their own characters as mercenaries that level up with the main char but SH can have some connection issues at times. Also, be aware that the base game lacks a lot of QoL changes, controls and the RTS system itself is a bit different compared to SH, FG, and Versus.
In expansions everyone can customize their own characters.
Well in all 3 games of SF3 all progression stays at the hosts end. Also its only 3 player (task share) coop, not 4 players.
I don't know if you confuse them with some mods that are around for some of the games:
