Tips for Making Money
So I started playing earlier on and put many hours into the game scraping my way up to having some sort of money after buying more shelves, constantly restocking, etc. I could never afford a truck even after probably 12 hours of gameplay. Then the "easy mode" game out and I opted for that (wish I never did) and all my progress was wiped out in a favor of a mode that was ridiculously easy. I'm contemplating another restart on original mode but not if I have to grind another 12 hours just to have a couple decent looking shelves in my store and nothing more. I saw the farm option, no idea how lucrative that is, but I couldn't imagine coming up with that kind of money on non-easy mode. Any suggestions???

To be fair, I've only been playing a few hours.
Went straight into normal mode.
I more or less started with a few items until I could afford the tv/pc.
Seem to be doing ok with that, got 2500 now and thinking about buying more shop furniture.

I am not sure about the farm, but from what I understand when bought you collect a daily profit direct from there.

I don't buy shelves. The only thing I buy is fridges. Customers still buy items off the floor. Also don't pay your electric bill until you have fridges the only penalty is the dirtiness and urine will max out reducing you to non-sprinting speeds.

Yeah i was wondering about the electric bill at the start. Never thought about just dropping everything on the floor lol Does 2 cashiers make a lot more money?

Just sell things quicker, by allowing two customers at the same time.

Seems like if you have the stock, that's the way to go

Ha ha, the buyers must know something we don't.

I agree about the urine/hunger thing but I like running. As far as electric goes I bought a fridge on a loan early on. I too had to start over from easy but it just takes 10 times as long and is much more in control.

Don't worry about the ratings when you start or what people want. I do find that there are certain products that sell more even when they aren't asking for them :) Pop, chips, milk, and chocolate seem to be good sellers. There are others but I haven't got to a point of being able to analyze the data quite yet.

I don't believe it's a 100% random because I remember on easy mode how the high item stuff did not sell as fast including the meat. Other products as mentioned seem to always sell faster than others.

i started off buying the low priced items and placing items on the floor. it seems that what the customers want runs in streaks. some days i have electronics flying off the shelves, others where none sell for days. take your time, don't get in a hurry and as you make money, add new items. i make sure i have money in the bank to keep up with paying employees and lights. getting a new store going takes time and patience. while i COULD have taken loans and repaid them, i played through without taking any loans. i may have progressed quicker but i got there all the same.

I have played sims similar to this one and I find it is helpful to buy stock when you are getting a great discount -- more than $4 discounts (have some in boxes for when the shelves get low and prices get higher to restock). I look for discounts that are close to $10 on the more expensive items. On the cheap items, you won't get that... two dollar discount is ideal on the $10 items. Keep those cheap items in stock ALL THE TIME.

There is also the roll up door at the back of your store....if you have not opened that door yet, there is a couple boxes of merchandise in there as well as a ladder so you can stack food on top of your fridge and the top shelf of your shelves.

I keep the chip display full...that requires four to five boxes to fill up completely. Soda I keep on hand in the fridge. Chocolate milk and milk are more expensive, but I try to keep that stocked all the time. Same with TP and diapers, the dressing, ketchup, and sauce. Sun block, toothpaste, detergent, softener, bleach, hand soap, cleaners, canned goods, cooking and frying oil, eggs, coffee, teas, cashews, nuts, spaghetti, noodles...all the items that I try to keep stocked and on hand for restocking.

Ice cream and sea food, meats are harder to keep stocked. Same with the more expensive sweets. I have not bothered yet with fresh produce. I am guessing that will be cheaper with the farm??? No one has come to my shop looking for sugar, salt, or whatever else is in the smaller containers, so that's nice.

In the bank, I keep $300 on my visa for two electric bills to go through automatically and $200 in my bank for the loan and employee pay. Once my loan is paid off, I may get another one, have not decided yet...

I hardly sleep, but maintain food, and bathroom needs. I wait until I am 100 on my hunger and buy a pizza. It is the most economical way to go, it will fill you up completely. Sleep deprivation is not a thing in the game yet, but what sleeping does, it gets you through the night if you are not having to purchase merchandise and restock shelves.

I am now trying to balance vehicle maintenance. I do not have a cellphone yet, so I get my oil and gas myself. As far as vehicle repairs...I have not yet figured that out yet. I am guessing that is where I will need a cellphone, but I do not know where to buy it.

BTW, you can stack boxes from the merchant on the hood of your car. I have done that when I have a lot I want to get in one trip. Be sure to not completely block your window, though, so you can navigate. Can't wait to get the truck or have food delivered... That will be so nice!
SurvivorSean 8 MAY 2021 a las 14:30
Yeah deliveries are nice in easy mode but certainly not a regular mode option in the early stages. I mean you can do it but again it's 10 dollars a box that could be used for profit.

Pop is not refrigerated and I usually keep it stocked up front under the counter. Same with donuts (that are sold in a refrigerator). I usually stick with 150 in the CC and 50 in the bank and just make sure I go to the bank each day. If you have to pay your employee and forget you just get a credit on your account which doesn't cost any overdraft fees or anything.

Right now I'm still early on with a fridge a couple of tables, and the original stock rack. Revenue has just reached about the 800 per day mark. This came around the same time that I needed repairs on the vehicle.

I learned the trick here early on about getting the repairs and oil done at the same time because it cost you nothing extra.

Another cool trick I found out last night. I already knew the stock latter could easily go 3 wide and 2 deep with a height of at least 3 high for 18 of the big boxes. Well what is really cool is by accident I decided to run it into the back of the station wagon. Leave it then pick it up and sure enough it unloaded the entire vehicle with everything on top of the station wagon. This is a huge time saver.

The very best way to start:

1) Do not buy shelves (in the beginning)
2) Sell everything in your inventory (keep only the laptop, and toilet)
3) Buy only a bathtub, and as much groceries as you can, leaving only like $100 for food to
eat.
4) Do not take a loan
5) Do not pay the electric bill (only when you buy fridge do you need to consider it, and then
check to see if fridge needs power (currently it does not)).
6) Do not buy the second cashier. It only sells things faster (which some may like), but you
cannot dismiss him, so you are stuck with him forever.
7) before buying any frozen items, be sure to have all the "machines" outside first. This way,
if you need money, just let the game run in AFK. Everything will be sold, you will be sick,
but you will have alot more money.
8) You don't die in the game, don't be afraid of getting sick. You just loose your ability to
run. If the noises bother you...mute.

I have one tip, the starting car can take more than you know. Just now, more or less, I placed 9 boxes in the back, and one on the hood. So, you don't need to buy a bigger vehicle, to transport more than 6 boxes. I bet I can fit even more boxes on the car!
Tux 14 MAY 2021 a las 10:19
well my question right off the bat having only seen a few videos is this

why do need shelves at all in the begining? I see a TON of floor space. can you not sell them if the items are on the floor? I just dont know because I do not have the game
