one thing prevents me from wanting to play
it's how sticky the platforms are and how unintuitive the dropping mechanic is down+jump is clunky and actually creates some issues when done fast paired with other moves an example being korra's sdair because the sdair pushes her up slightly when jumping and the jump happens before the actual platform drop down she sdairs on top of the platform and cancels the attack resulting in nothing but lost frames no sdair no platform drop i'm almost certain if the input was two quick down inputs because she is not rising while inputting sdair this would result in her not returning to the top of the platform but rather have the intended result of dropping through the platform with her attack this would also bring the input in line with other similar games creating a more new player friendly muscle memory i have no doubt if i give the game enough time i can overcome this annoying difference in mechanics but i just don't see why i should when the solution could simply be an option or a fix to make the game better another issue but not nearly as major to me is the extreme lack of input customisation being able to remap buttons in one thing but the fact that the right stick is locked to whatever it is just makes it unusable for some characters

i would be very willing to put a ton of time into this game once some of these issues are fixed but there's just games out there right now with more fluid input systems that i would rather spend my time on currently

The reason it's like that is because this game doesn't take any inputs besides 1 or 0 with the control stick direction, any little nudge is a full force run, so if you tried to do a down tilt on a platform your stick starting to go down would instantly drop you before you could even hit attack.

honestly it's a bit weird, but you just need to overwrite the muscle memory you have from smash, I find it more consistent this way, no crouching on platform ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but yes smash's way is more fluid to control. But I like my funny cartoon fighter snappy, quick and robotic.

i am fully aware of the digital inputs instead of analog inputs this doesn't impact what i'm talking about at all holding down should just go through platform and double press down should also drop it's not a hard problem to fix and it's not something that digital inputs simply cannot handle the the solution to the problem the developers came up with is just really really bad and isn't even a solution at all

it's not an issue of me learning it's an issue that the input causes issues within the game itself pressing jump to drop through platforms literally stops some options from being consistent when dropping through platform quickly due to how weird jump buttons can be some rise slightly in the early frames of jump even if you frame perfect do the input hell especially if you frame perfect do the input

if i just had to learn the input and the issue goes away sure i'd just learn it but i'm not going to learn something that is objectively worse than an option they should have implemented anyways there's other better games that deserve time more at that point

Give specific examples of what you mean, if I fall through a platform then on the next actionable frame I am below it and able to do any attack or dash without fear of being grounded by the platform due to me rising slightly. If you DID find an instance of this you should start a discussion about it because that seems unintentional. Maybe @ thaddeus on twitter. But I'm honestly not sure what you're talking about because it's worded... confusingly. If you're platform dropping you don't rise, and if you are you didn't do it properly.

If you're having trouble falling through platforms practice it. There is nothing wrong with the input its self and you probably just need better stick control. 100% of the time when I fall through a platform it behaves as expected, perfectly, every time, without fail. If you're trying to platform fall and are dashing downward you might have just wavedashed because your timing isn't practised enough to do it consistantly, lab it and practice that specific area until you get it consistantly.

♥♥♥♥ It's been a while since I read it and absolutely forgot your example, and I tested it and you're absolutely right with Korra, her Dair indeed will ground you before she drops below the platform enough. That is one example but I don't think it's because you need to do down+jump to fall through the platform, I think that's a highly specific Korra thing and would still exist no matter what your drop input is, her collision hitbox shrinks up and it really really shouldn't just in general.

I just posted about the Korra thing on their twitter for ya, that prolly shouldn't be happening.

BTW, If you or anyone wants to fight me in Nick just friend me and shoot me a message, I honestly think if you just power through it the plat drop will get easier to deal with.

Not gonna lie, that is a very unique complaint I actually haven't heard that one yet.
I'm not gonna act like you're crazy because I've felt a similar issues every time I've tried to short hop -> down air on top of a ledge, and ended up doing it underneath the ledge instead because I was holding down before tapping jump.

I'm starting to think the only reason this game doesn't have analog movement is because that would require walking animations. :v
