Does "The Horror" difficulty get any easier?
I'm at the beginning in deadside, got 3 dark souls so far. I'm up against the 2 headed enemies and they're beating me down. Does this difficulty get any easier after any items or upgrades or is it just a really challenging game mode?

It gets easier once you get the Tete de Mort from the Experimentation Rooms.

You're in for a world of pain.

As another commenter said, the Tete de Mort does make things easier, but only slightly. It still takes forever to kill enemies with it.

It gets easier when you learn the new enemy attack patterns and by the time you get up to Shadow Level 7 with the gun.

The Playrooms are a nightmare in Horror mode. Be prepared to die dozens of times over in some of these levels.

Yes and no, you have more options to defend yourself later, with more weapons, more life, etc, but also the number of enemies increases, at the end of the day it depends if you become better moving to the hecenarios.
A few tips.
-Save: It is true that when you die you keep the enemies dead and progress in general, but it is annoying to have to walk UP to where you were every time you die, so Save and Load, I recommend you save just before entering rooms that you know it's full of enemies if you die, load, it's better to retry the room with resources than take time to return to the room with fewer resources and probably die a lot due to lack of magic, since you spent it on the first try, sometimes it's better just load the save and try again.
-Take advantage of how death works: Take into account that the things you need to progress are souls, or specific objects, press switches, once you achieve this in the room you practically achieved your purpose and it doesn't matter much if you die and there are times that the spawn point is near another dark soul or you activate a shortcut and now you can get there faster.
Marteou does more damage up close: This weapon has a shotgun effect, and if you hit someone with the first attack it does A LOT of damage.
-Asson is the weapon with the most range in the game: It does more damage than the tete de mort, but the projectile is slow, use it to kill enemies quickly and to attack enemies that are far away like many of the enemies with rifles in the asylum.
Spin in circles around the surgeons: The surgeons become very frequent in the last levels and more with their new variants, just move in one direction to avoid their attacks, if you have enough space they are not too bad to deal with but if you stay no room to move is a problem you have to be agile or use the Enseigne.
- The Enseigne is the most important item: Use it to get out of the water since sometimes there are enemies waiting for you outside to shoot you, this shield will protect you, use it if you are surrounded by projectiles, it is VERY useful in this mode, get it as soon as you can .

highly recommend killing Batracian first, his teddy bear warp is really good for restocking all of Shadowman's equipment. I was able to do it deathless 100% but not technically with quick saves but it felt was a pain. Once you finish the temples the game definitely becomes more manageable

Yes, the temples of fire are easily the most difficult part of the game, mostly because of those damn purple sisters who are unnecessarily tanks. The yellow and red are manageable.

1. Tete de Mort helps at the Beginning until the Playrooms. I can advise, that this weapon is a huge help, but it depends which enemy you are fighting. There are other Situations, where the Asson is better or also the Baton can be a very good "fast finisher" for some big mob waves.

2. Playrooms is hard and it needs many Left-Right Fights with "Line of Sight". Sometimes you can also shoot through the door or if you kite em Back, not all Mobs come to you. (2/3 smt., test it out)

3. I started with Batracian first, the Savepoint is insane, great restocking of everything. Before that it was the Prophecy Room until (I guess it was Shadow Level 7?) a big wave of mobs spawn, if you're porting there. (too much zombiemothers there, lul)

4. After that i did Marx -> Pike -> Cruz

5. I get both violator updates for the "999 Ammonition" @ Violator

6. At the moment insane hard struggle with Jack the Ripper :D (because of no die-challenge)

About Jack. Melt him with Violators or MPs and when we is falling down on you, react quick, jump over him, turn around and shoot him while jumping back. Repeat the process until he is dead. :-)

When he is on the ceiling, you can shoot him a couple of times with the MP (autoaim), he will fall down in front of you and you can shoot him a couple times too.

Perfect, i had 2 good situations, where i get him into True Form, without losing health.

Killed him, thanks. :) Now staying in front of Legion :)

7. Legion P1: Use the Marteau + Shadowgun, you need about 4.5 Voodoopower of Spamming + Shadowgun
Legion P2: Spam the rest -> Switch to Shadowgun + Violator :D. Important: You need a lot of sidejumps to get out of range from the missiles. The speed of the missiles are a little bit faster than expected.

Good Luck to everyone, its a hard challenge. Playrooms & Jack were the most intense Levels.

Sheesh, thanks guys. I don't know if I have what it takes to beat it on this difficulty. I beat it on normal way back on my N64 and wanted to have a nice nostalgic romp through deadside again. I will definitely use all your suggestions though and try to get past the first hump.

I made a guide a couple days ago. Hope this helps.

See, that's the issue with gamers today. Even on the hardest difficulty, people still want things to be easy. Sigh! How did you lot survive the 90's, when games back then were hard.
i passed the whole horror difficulty what you have to do is keeping your distance and jumping sideways not backwards.backwards is slower and most prob you will get hit.

It's okay to give feedback so that it feels fun and not just frustrating, the initial version of The Horror was too much. Currently, it's still hard but it's fairer in general, and they got rid of that silly limited save system, but yes, some people who complain about the horror seem to want them to do it the same as normal mode, but with more enemies, It's kind of ridiculous to complain about a difficulty level that's supposed to be hard being "very hard" just because it asks you to dodge a bit, whereas in the normal game you can be the stiffest and most immobile person in the world but still survive.
