Shadow Man: 2econd Coming
Any word on if Nightdive plans to do anything with the sequel?

No word so far. Shadow Man: 2second Coming wasn't exactly well received when it came out, to put it mildly. It was a huge drop off in terms of quality compared to the first game (PS1 version notwithstanding lol) and a huge disappointment by pretty much unanimous opinion.

But, maybe Nightdive could work their magic, make a bunch of changes to the game beyond graphical upgrades and turn the game into something good?

I'd much rather see Nightdive work on remastering about 50 other early 3D games before doing 2econd Coming. Gex: Enter the Gecko, Draconus: Cult of the Wyrm, the Legacy of Kain series, Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, MDK 1 and 2, Destruction Derby 1 and 2, Quake 2 on N64, there's so many possibilities.
I liked it ,and it has it's niche fanbase too

however stephen kick , or was it it tim haywood (original team).......anyway they said they would have to see what all they got ,before whether or not they think they can remaster it.

it's a matter of source code .legality, gameplay (whether it hold up ,or needs tweaking),cut content.....etc

remember the first game in and of itsself was almost never likely to get remastered ,they just happened to get some old project file's with some cut content discovered along with some original source code and some they reverse engineered combine that with a reboot of the comic ,and tim being brought on to remaster the sound track and recreate the old half nonexistant voice line's (IE for yorts fight as a example) its wonder we even got this game

All I know is that the guy that made all the new levels for the Shadow Man Remaster has been going through 2nd Coming - mostly as a hobby thing, compiling lots of stuff from it. If there's a big enough push for it they might.

I heard it was bad too, and from what I saw mikes a beefed out dude who looks nothing like Shadowman 1 and one of the first badguys is a horned diablo demon. Uh how does a demon like that fit into supernatural voodoo and serial killers? It looks pretty lame honestly but I'd still like to see it on steam just to play the shadowman sequel. But if its a crummy terrible game is it worth 20$? I'm kinda with lord on this one blood omen and soul reaver both deserve dedicated remasters and not this value dollar crap on steam with poor do it yourself optimizations. Those games are actually infinitely replayable classics and not... Whatever the hell shadowman2 was.. Shadowman 1 felt very creepy and abstract, and shadowman2 looks well, pretty cornball and hard to take seriously not sure why they didn't just do more of 1.

Maybe it could be good if they reworked the style of shadowman1.

I don't even have the courage to play 2econd Coming, all the essence of the first one was thrown in the trash, the music is not at all engaging, muscular mike throwing punches, and shadowman is a pants skeleton, it really doesn't work!!!

it would be more interesting to have a dlc from the first one or even new areas, it would be nice to be able to access those sectors that have locked doors, the game itself gives me this feeling of an area not yet explored by them...

Shadow Man Remastered has a ton of new areas/content that were cut from the original releases of the game, if that's what you're asking.

they mean how there's area's in the first game that have locked door's or how there are building in the distance.

For example Locked parts in the experimentation rooms you don't ever go in ,or the door in the engine block you don't ever actually enter.
There's also areas in the asylum gateway's beyond bars that show a giant wheel spinning.

or the 3rd Temple for the Gad (Swim) has spires you can see in the backdrop from the main warp point that look like town's or habitats , or how theres huts and buildings in deadside.

essentially there's backdrop area's that give the impression that there was more to explore ,when in reality the game is pretty small in actuality it feel's long because of backtracking and using upgrade's to find new part's of the same area's.

Loved all the extra levels in the remaster but really the best one was the experimentation rooms. Nightdive went totally psycho on that one, a chute that drops people into a huge room of mutilation and body burning, that's out of the worst genocide nightmare frickin intense. But sadly imo the serial killer add on levels were eh... Nothing like jacks in the old one. Just kinda platformy with very few enemies or things to do just jump through confusing mazes. I would of liked at least one more voodoo themed temple with some kinda new upgrade.

A nightdive expansion would be welcomed and I'd pay anywhere from 10-20$ for it. But they'd have to make it worth it just like the crazed insanity that experimentation rooms was.. They really outdid the macabre with that one.
Shadowman 2, maybe if they changed the mechanics made it more like the first one but yea... That was really towards the end of acclaim when they were making trash like BMXXX trying to appeal to shock and sleaze over psychological substance.

That's what I was talking about, I've been playing shadowman for a long time, I met him on the Dreamcast, and I can say when he was wronged and misinterpreted, it's a very immersive game, it deserved a continuation at its height, that's why I don't like it from 2cond Coming, a dlc with the new dead side areas would be very welcome

Since people are talking about 2econd coming here I don't mean to hijack but I have a question. Just completed Shadow Man for the second time in my life, Dreamcast now Remastered. In the end he seems to escape the asylum as it blows and makes his way to the marrow gates. It had been a while in-between SM1 and SM2 for me but I guess I had forgotten he escaped the explosion and was fine.

When I played SM2, Mike digs himself up from his burial ground and I used to assume it's because he didn't return from the battle with Legion and escape the explosion. Now, after the remaster ending I figured there must have been something I was missing and I started up 2econd Coming and there seems to be no explanation why Mike is in the ground... What happened? Why is he there? I am so confused

First of all, nice observation there with trying to connect the stories.
I played through 2econd Coming, sadly it was at an age where my English wasn't good enough and I didn't care enough about story. I'll have to replay it to give you an answer for that. Sorry for not being much help.

Most of the 2nd Coming story was cut ,apparently you go to the wild at heart first then die and appear in deadside at that grave

This is essentially the entire story of 2nd coming before it was changed (via a google drive pdf)

I have to say if we ever do get the game the way it was intended it will be really good compared to what was left

Thank you very much for this. It doesn't mention that he does die in the bar, just that he can but will appear outside the marrow gates if I read correctly. So just standing there and able to move back I think. So the question now is, they obviously decided to add this in and cut things short like the train ride (And this explains so much because every wiki kept saying this and I never seen it in game) and I am wondering why they decided to add this in with still no explanation to how he got there. Just shows how rushed the game was.

In terms of making it like the original vision that sounds really awesome but it looks like it would mean changing a lot of what was there and wouldn't really be a remaster. I doubt it's something people would do. But the more I play through 2econd coming the more I understand that it's not that good. I used to this it was much better but from a story point of view it seems to make less sense. Even reading that I can see that while the original idea was amazing it still was very cartoonish? Not sure of the word. Like you can tell it does not flow but I do like that it offers some explanation to the buff Mike but no explanation to the rotting Shadow Man unless I didn't see that. While amazing, still flawed. I think the only way to fix this game would be too radical of a design.

I think as a fan I wouldn't mind DLC same priced added to this that continues on and re-works the 2econd coming and builds from these assets. Think it would be cheaper and faster too. The models wouldn't look as polished but I think it would be better than remastering that 2nd game because honestly, I can't see the company even wanting to work on something that would change it too much from what it was or that would take even more time. Keeping it the same may mean it just won't do well in this day and age as the only people who are gonna pick it up would be fans of Shadow man, it's older so mostly more older people play it I think, meaning more understanding of how bad it is. I think the best chance is scrubbing the second game remaster and adding DLC from this one at same price, maybe even as a standalone playable version. Shame seeing it so broken. Wow.... I used to think it was so much better.

Thanks again for sending me this as I didn't even know this existed but yeah I can see so much is really missing from this game. Thank you

it's hard to like a shadow man in skeleton form without the shadowgun and dark souls
