How many of you actually ended up NOT buying this game?
I remember much drama here on these forums during and after the game's release.

I just wondered: who of you guys actually did NOT buy this game
and still don't own it? I haven't purchased it myself

P4g was a straight port. Nocturne had added content. Adding content costs money.

They added content while limiting the game on a technical level (30FPS and compressed audio). You could say that it's the limitations of being a PS2 port/remaster but the price should reflect that in my opinion.

They also decided to bundle DLC alongside it ($70 to have everything). I could have justified the $50 price tag a little better if the DLC wasn't being sold separately and was instead included in the base game.

No.... 50 euros for a PS2 port that's 30fps on PC and even has the DLC sold separately? No....

They didnt limit the game though, thats what was already present in the original. They added a new translation for America, and voice acting and the ability to control skill migrations. P4g was literally the Vita game, no changes. However you feel about these prices you're using false information.

That was not on the initial release that was added on update 1.04 after a lot of complaining

Awaiting updates and a price drop. Hopefully they can use this game as a reference for porting the remainder of the ps2 games. Do that, drop the price to $30 for each one, and they'll have decent cash flow coming in.

This is true. But it was present for the Steam release which were discussing.

I meant to say that as a remaster, it feels limited. We've seen other remasters able to run at 60FPS whereas their original counterparts ran at 30FPS or lower. I believe the original Nier ran at 30FPS on the PS3 but Replicant is able to run fine at 60FPS and also includes added content with remade visuals.

Granted, this game has better visuals and gameplay features going for it compared to the original. However, I would have at least liked an option for a higher framerate given its price tag. My apologies, I should have been more clear in what I was trying to say.

For a higher frame rate that would require them to remake the game, not just remaster it. Nier is running on a whole new engine. This is running on the same engine in a Unity wrapper for compatibility.

And that's totally fair. However, I feel that the price does not reflect the quality of this port as a result of that. NieR Replicant is $10 more than this but it feels like more effort went into that port than this one. As you said, it was remade on a whole different engine...and it's just $10 more than SMT3. ATLUS also remade Catherine Full Body on the Persona 5 engine while the original was on the Gamebryo engine. I don't know the technicalities, but wouldn't you say they could have put the same amount of effort for this port too? That's the comparison I meant to draw. If they couldn't have pulled it off because it would have cost too much, then the game should not be nearly that of a full priced, brand new game.

All I wanted to say to counter your original point is that yes, adding content does cost money. However, if the rest of the features aren't on par in terms of the quality that other remasters have seen to be able to pull off, is that additional cost worth it? That's subjective and each person will think differently as to what's worth it or not. However, other remasters have added content while having made higher quality ports as well. The extra DLC on top of it all in this game just makes it feel even worse.

I just wish Atlus would have done a better job on top of everything else they have added.

And it doesn't make things better that the music is in mono or something?
I believe I read something about the audio. Weird stuff man
I heard that it is for some songs the same compressed versions of the songs that were on the original PS2 disc. They presumably had to do it back then, but there are uncompressed versions of the songs and they certainly could have had their uncompressed versions in this re-release. Doesn't bother me too much since it has that old school feel for me, however, not all the songs are like this, so it just makes the overall sound experience disjointed and inconsistent.

Only of some songs, sadly. The highest quality source are the soundtrack CDs. And these don't include all the songs in the game. So either you use that and have some glaring quality drops for the rest of them or you have consistant quality of the mmusic in the game. They could, of course, have remade all the music from scratch but there will always be complaints.
I'm happy to have something as close to the original experience as possible.

I haven't bought the game because of the price. It's insane that they dare to ask this much for a pc remaster from a game that was released in 2003.
No purchase for me. I don't believe in rewarding bad behavior.
