Trial Character Creation not working?

So, I started up the trial version to get the bonuses, but the character creation is not letting me do much other than select the gender and change the name. I'm having a bit of trouble finding any information online about this, so I figured I'd ask here.

Is this a bug I'm experiencing, or is this just a limited part of the trial version?

And if it is just limited in the trial version, will carrying over the save to the full release leave you stuck with the default characters unless you buy one of the character change tokens in the store, or does it let you use the full character creation at the start?

Same problem.
Solution: Use windowed mode - at least functional for me then but more of an accidental discovery

Thank you. It was weird having all the options but not being able to select them.

I found the solution to the problem:
Select left (with mouse Possible)
Confirm the selection with "enter"
Select Right (with mouse Possible)
"enter" confirm the selection
with "Esc" back to the main selection.

Thank you so much for this, finally got mine to work. I'm guessing it's like that in order for the UI to be more compatible with controllers or something.

I hit it by accident.
especially since it did not work despite windowed-mode

Its still not working for me with windowed option. I dont see anywhere in the options to make the mouse work during customization. please help!

Found the best way to do it is go into settings and change the confirm button to left mouse click and it started working use wasd to select and left mouse button to confirm
