[Guide] Running the game flawlessly on Steam Deck

Got the game running on mah Steam Deck boss!
Maxed out settings, newest proton (so you wont lose the controller support) 60fps stable.
(This might also be of interest to the developers)

Increase VRAM/Frame Buffer:
Go to the Steam Deck Boot/Setup Tool (power the SD down, reboot by pressing Volume Up and Power) go to Utility > Advanced > UMA Frame Buffer Size, change this to 4GB

Here is an explanation on why this works

Add the launch option "-force-vulkan" to the game in steam.

Let me know if it worked for you too!

Please keep in mind that this is not developer supported (yet, but they are working on it!) so until there is official support, you could still be unlucky.

this worked like charm, i do get major stutters in combat tho. do u have the same issue?

Hrmmm testing this method after beating the game once using the old GE Proton method. This still locks up my Deck on loading a level. Which was my major issue before.

Are you using any Proton layer? Or nothing?

Yeah I still had to use the latest GE Proton to avoid level loads locking up the Deck.

But this seems to make it run a bit better!

I have it running with no specific proton compatability layer selected. I do have

-force-vulkan

on however

That was the missing thing! You should add it to your OP! With that and no layer it’s running better than ever! Vulkan got rid of the stuttering.

I had responses from mine that getting GE Proton was too difficult so I dunno what Cryo will be like for some.

Run it with Vulkan!

I’m on level 4 with these settings and force vulkan, Proton GE 9.7 - works awesome. No issues with the controls, or stuttering.

This game is a looker too - some of the best skyboxes I’ve seen in a while.

Tried it the "-force-vulkan" command with and without Proton GE 9.7 - crashes every time I use the command. With Proton GE and without the command it starts but crashes after loading the first episode - am I doing something wrong here? :) What SteamOS are you guys using? Maybe that's the problem - I'm running mine on the stable channel.

UPDATE: OK - got it working with the standard Proton 7.0-6, somehow GE didn't work for me :)

Still can't get it working - tried forcing vulkan, with GE Proton 9.7, without it, with Proton 7.0-6 - none of it is working. Might just have to wait until this gets official support.
