Before the Syberia series there was Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy. Then came Syberia, Syberia 2 and Syberia 3. There was a gap in time before Syberia - The World Before (SyberiaTWB) was released in 2022.
Each game has references to the preceding game(s) but the player is not required to know anything about them to play.
The games engine changed after Syberia and Syberia 2, and Syberia 3 had some problems which were mostly worked out. SyberiaTWB is even better but takes more ram and a better video card. Microids has responded to Bug post in the past and there are several technical discussions in the Discussions tab.
There are quite a few walkthroughs , both text and video, for all versions, should one get stuck (I used them a lot). The walkthroughs are not required as much for SyberiaTWB unless you are trying to get all of the Achievements.
I think they are all great games with good plots, fantasy story lines and beautiful scenery and voice overs. These games are NOT fast moving action games but are more like developing stories with puzzles to solve added to develop the story. The plot twist and turns of SyberiaTWB are well thought out with loose ends eventually tied up and that kept my interest to the end.
I hope this helps you (and others) decide to give one ore all of them a try!
Wow, what a well-thought-out and structured comment. Thanks for taking the time to write this.
