Game and its future

Hi. I'm thinking about buying the game and if it will be developed like the hunter with so many maps. I really like fishing games like RF4. I'm looking for something not so much grind but also demanding. I see that not many people play Angler on steam is it because the game is bad?

The game had major problems upon introduction so many people just refunded or stopped playing. Going forward, the game has improved somewhat; however, it still lacks many features, challenges, and other items that make for a great fishing game. With that said, the developers have promised major improvements when the console version gets released this summer; however, until then, we are stuck with a beautiful game that is quite simplistic and sometimes downright boring. I would wait for a sale or wait for the console release to see if it has improved.

Buy this game its really fun i love it alot its open world the maps are so huge its crazy and tough and hard and lots of places to fish and much more affordable then all those other games you mention

You obviously have not played many other fishing games. FP is free and you can make it to level 80 without spending a dime; I did. Also, FP has over 243 species of fish to catch and they host a variety of seasonal and holiday events that are a ton of fun. There is no comparison here; however, the only way to find out is to buy it and see for yourself.

I've played FP, Russian Fishing and The Fisher Online, those three are pure and good simulations.
The Angler had a bad start but had some good updates that make the game fully enjoyable today. Of course it's easier more arcady, good for a chill session. The massive map and the multiplayer are great features. I'm having good time on the game.

Of course I'm very positive because I paid 6 euros to buy it. Very cheap and totally worths it.

This game is certainly not bad. It is a game that is full in development. The graphics are very good and the open world environment is a breath of fresh air if you compair it with other more settled games as RF4/FP. This game is coming out on console real soon (This summer) and that will bring more people into the game. What drives this game for me is the community and how it pulls you in. If you need help there's so mutch people waiting for you on the official discord with advice and all the spots and tips you need to start out your adventure. Sure not all the tactics are there yet, not all the setups etc etc but standing on your boat fishing with a couple of your mates oh man its amazing. Dev's who do weekly updates to keep you informed. If you like all that and you wanna help bring this game to its true potential you are so very welcome.

I played all the above-mentioned games, but this game has something that brings me in day after day. The graphics(my god it's amazing), the ambiance, the multiplayer, the boats, and the Jeeps to travel. I just get lost when playing this game. You can go to one spot and catch many Gold and silver. The next day, nothing seem to work in the same area. So, you go elsewhere and explore new fishing areas. When exploring, the game will give you an icon of what species are mostly in this lake. One disappointment and it isn't for me, but maybe for others, it's the time between catches. Having a larger hook will attract larger fish, but at the same time, the rate of bite is very low. I would stick with a hook that attracts the Silver to have a more enjoyable experience. I would definitely give it a go. These devs' are well known for supporting their games for a long time.

Really depends on if they focus on the fishing part of this fishing game. It has so much potential it is off the chats.

But that is just it isnt it. There are a billion games with potential it is just a matter on if they live up to it or not. And judging by the last few updates the future doesn't look so bright.

I am more worried about the cost of this project vs the numbers. Are they going to make enough money to continue development or not? At what point does someone higher up who is signing the paychecks say this isn't working out.

Unless something drastically changes about the fishing I just don't know anymore.

The main issue is if I had to guess is the people they have helping them with the direction of the game are the minority who are maybe still playing and not the VAST majority that left and or refunded the game. This could only translate to poor adjustments and updates. The ones who left have some of the best ideas but their ideas are never brought to the table instead we have people who like the game as it is in its current state. All 100 of them.

I would skip it for now or buy it with the expectation it will take years for it to maybe become a good game.

The fishing and mechanics in this game are rather poor:
You have little control over casting, the fish species all behave the same
They inhabit places real fish would not
You are locked in place after you cast
Many lures do not act at all like the real thing
There is a lack of fishing tools and other gear such as stands, alarms, nets, etc
No tackle boxes and very limited inventory
The fish really don't fight or move around on line, just the usual line tension minigame where the lines break too easily
There are no nets or other mechanics to retrieve fish from the water, just press space and stats appear.
The vehicles are hot garbage and drive poorly, throttle is either off or 100%
The game is very immersion breaking with stat screens and other things.
The NPCS should be rounded up and shot as they NEVER SHUT UP any time you are within 200 yards of them
Quests are annoying, sometimes broken, and often are more about exploration
Only one (admittedly large) map is included with the base game but it does include 12 species, still it is one less than the hunter COTW base game

+1 The developers do a great job of providing lip service and they have many Discord members hypnotized with their promises of greatness to come; however, since their focus is 100% on consoles, we'll see how many of those promises actually get included with the next PC based game update. BTW, you are not permitted to say anything bad about this game on Discord. You will get hammered.

Guys it is not in full developement! Not sure where you get those fairytales from. It released as a full developed version. They may add some stuff here and there to it and may do some minor tweaks, but that will be it. If they wanted to add something major to the core gameplay mechanics they've already had a full year of developement time. And I'ma telling it again for everyone who does not know, a simple "Tackle Box" was a day one request and still has not found it's way into the game. I honestly don't understand how still people expect so much from these devs, tbh.

Why don't you finally stop telling yourself and other people over here that this game will be on a completely different level at some point in time? It won't ever be more than the completely mediocre game it turned out to be! And no official ever confirmed anything at this point in time, about something major changing. And after introducing the feedback program months ago, still nothing "major" in sight.

That's what you guys seem to refuse to understand, whenever you are trying to praise this game for something it has not achieved yet and probably won't achieve ever! The open world doesn't change anything in terms of quality because it's just a completely dull and lifeless scenery.

Besides that officials have clearly stopped communicating the feedback over these forums which was absolutely common back a year ago. And hearing people getting banned from discord for trying to explain the biggest flaws of the game, it tells everything you need to know, doesn't it? This game is going nowhere, but to the consoles and to different countries with a bunch of different cosmetics with upcoming DLC's.

This is kind of a mix between a hiking simulator and a fishing game. Sometimes, I feel like I prefer to explore the map instead of fishing. I really like the nature environment tbh. Although, I would like to see more fishes swimming here and there. Sometimes, it feels very empty and pointless. We need something else beyond levels. Maybe random skin fishes or collectibles?

Ich werde ein paar Monate warten, um zu sehen, ob sich dieses Spiel verbessert. Wenn nicht, werde ich sicher keine DLCs oder kommenden Inhalte kaufen, auch wenn ich ein großer Fan der Franchise bin.

Wir warten hier alle schon seit dem Release vor nem Jahr, aber es kommt halt einfach gar nix! Und darauf kannst Du wetten, es werden noch reichlich pay DLC's nachgereicht. Obwohl ich mich da echt frage, wer die überhaupt kaufen soll, bei den wenigen Hanseln die hier überhaupt noch "regelmäßig" spielen?

Mit dem Konsolen-Release tut man sich auch keinen Gefallen, das wird genau wie zum Steam-Launch mal kurz paar Leute anziehen und dann merken die am Ende auch, dass da einfach nix unter der Haube steckt.

An diesem Move merkt man doch schon, wie stiefmütterlich das Spiel offiziell behandelt wird und wie sehr der Publisher / Entwickler auf Dummfang geht. Die wollen noch mal möglichst viel am Konsolenmarkt abkassieren und das war's dann. Wäre es anders, hätte man schon längst am Fundament gearbeitet. Die Beschwerden und Verbesserungsvorschläge der Community, sind so alt wie das Spiel selbst.
