RIP Avalanche. Open Workshop
I think I speak for a lot of anglers and hunters out there when i say that this really is the nail in the coffin and will most likely hurt future sales of any Avalanche product as its getting pretty common practice in this studio.

As for my myself i have left every group on social media, Discord and uninstalled anything relating to COTW. Such a massive community that's been let down again and i will not support anything they do in the future.

Played COTW series for many years on console before buying everything on PC with hopes TheAngler would finally reach TheHunters stage. Not to mention all the people i told to buy this as it would be the next big fishing game kinda like an online Reel Fishing. How bad do i feel now making all my friends waste their cash for the game to be abandoned a few months after Japan DLC..

If you are 100% finished with this product then steam workshop should be opened up.

Maybe don't lie for developers in the future?

I am only less than 10% finished with this game, so. I still have plenty of content to explore, but, always nice to know about the workshop.

This wont really hurt them one bit....there's 50 fishing games out there to go play.......but only 3 good hunting games out there, and apex owns 2 of them. it's my opinion that apex screwed up just by releasing the game as buggy as it was in an already saturated market of fishing games, when the hunter COTW has all these maps, with such large bodies of water makes parts of those maps useless unless your hunting ducks and drinking animals on the shore. this game should have just been sold as dlc for hunting,

+1 "We listened to our community". Ok if you did this you would have made this a full price DLC for the Hunter Call of the wild so we could hunt and fish at the same time, not a stand alone title.

Generation Zero also announced it was abandoning development a few months ago. Will no longer support any games and DLC for Avalanche Studios.

+1.

Uninstalled COTW and won't pick it back up, nor buy anything else they make. Their marketing "team" (probably just one person) needs to be fired. I don't think anyone is buying their toxic positivity (or their games, now).

This game was released in a horrifying state. They made a big show about listening to players. They proceeded to deliver the most bare minimum garbage possible. All the while, they made it out like they were making some great effort to improve the game.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Vote this company out of existence with your wallet.

It's always a great business move to continue development on a game that has dismal sales and a shrinking player base with half posting negative reviews. Makes me as a developer want to work harder and make a better game.

They literally ran this into the ground....Did not listen to the community at all despite saying they did. Shrinking player base because the game was dead boring and many were awaiting TheHunter treatment. I personally know multiple people including myself that was awaiting some kind of trophy lodge, you know the main thing that keeps TheHunter popular. But im sure as a dev you already knew this.

yes we've been asking for a trophy lodge since the first day the game launched and they kept giving bs excuses like "umm actuallyyyy it's a catch and release... so therefore it's impossible..."

what an unbelievably dumb excuse. of course they could have done it, but apparently, for whatever reason, they had to put all their resources towards trying to milk people by making DLC barely anybody asked for instead of meaningfully expanding the existing content with things sooo many people asked for.

they are doing the exact same thing with The Hunter. of course that game has sold many copies initially, so there will be enough cash cows to sustain them for a little while - but is the dlc selling that well? no. because it's random cashgrab content nobody really asked for. I tried playing the hunter again and the game looks THE EXACT SAME. these developers have zero passion, they don't care to polish up their games or make them better in any way. all they can do is: release a decent game, then try to milk the crap out of it by releasing moneygrab DLC nobody asked for.

+1 OP. Deserve all that's coming their way. This company has joined the No Buy list like a few other companies in my house. Kids have uninstall COTW and The angler, along with myself, done and dusted with poor support from such companies.

Dump, cash grab and run is poor business model, but alas its the way of the new world these days.
+! left the discords and will be very wary in the future , the latest cotw the hunter dlcs i have not bought and probably will not now.

i thought Dovetail games were bad but now it seems many devs have noticed and are following suit.

Yep Dovetail were just as bad with three recycled titles at full price. Modern gaming is ruined.
