channel catfish.. where for art thou!?

i sat for more than 4 hours tonigth desperately trying to catch 3 silver channel catfish for a challenge i thought wouldnt be too difficult. wow how wrong i was! i foudn ONE silver in 4 hours, and caught only ONE bronze other than that! i had 2 other challenges to complete, which were several northern pike and a total fish weight of 26lb, which due to the pike, was done in about 45 mins. something is up with these cats though as they were just NOWHERE! i searched for 15 mins in LOADS of the little pools and lakes, aswell as 3 of the massive lakes via boat. anyone know some tricks that i dont know yet? LOL, ive only been playing for a week :)

silver catfish: #3 hook with dough,
try the northern most lake, the one with the little island. You can also roll up on them in the little river system just south of the logging mill.

thank you man, i will give that a go! the challenge has now expired so i will be choosing another 3 to do, but once ive done those, i will spend a few hours this evening hunting those catfish. i did try hooks 3, 4, 5 and 6 with liver, dough, minnows, hotdog and cheese but only found the 2 catfish which were a bronze and silver, and both in completely different locations. thanks for the advice, i shall try that :)

Opal Lake is hotspot for them. I get alot of big catfish in this area. use sz 2-6 hook with hotdog, cheese, liver. even worm and leech gets them. My big ones are usually on sz2 or sz4 hook with Hotdog, or sz5 hook with Barley. Ive caught a few diamond catfish in this location.

thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it!! i ended up finding the catfish at the very top of the map,at the south of the lake on the edge of the lillypads. but that was only because it was an in game journal challenge thing so literally tells you where to go and how to fish, so wasnt difficult. i hadnt bothered trying after that. im now on diamond northern pike in the journal and no matter what i do, i cannot find anything above gold using a size 1 lure, be it frgo or swimbait. if i change to 1/0, i get absolutely no bites LOL. i havent yet tried minnows with 1/0 hook for float fishing so will try that now

for that mission i used #1 jerkbait, that one has always taken me some time to finally land the diamond, but hey, bag them golds in the process, farm the experience and money until you get him.

and absolutely did that!! i finally found the diamond after about 40 - 50 gold pike played over 2 days. the bites were thick and fast and ranged from 13lb to the majority being 17/18lb and wow, i went up over 15 levels and accrued 18k in money! all fish were caught using the #1 frog or swimbait, favouring the swimbait for the last 15-20 fish. kinda wish i stuck it out for a lot longer now as trying to get a pike in that area now im not in challenge mode, is like 1 fish every 5 mins LOL

Well I used to find catfish. But now I can't catch one with a Feeder and variety of hooks from top to bottom. Tried Hotdog, cheese, liver, leeches, tried jigging tried float fishing. I caught one at 4 KG in your spot. Writing this as my float is in the water
