Do legendary fish bite again if they get away?

I had Goldstein on my line and he got away. Been fishing with the same setup on other servers for ~3 hours and no other bites from him.... any ideas?

I will reassure you, my first legendary was BIG LARY, my line broke and it escaped, I continued to fish and about 20 minutes later I managed to catch it.
On the other hand, if you catch a DIAMOND it is useless to continue on the same lake, you will not take another one (in my experience).

I will keep trying then. Definitely had him and he spooled my line. Fished another 5 hours after and still no bites :(

Don't stay on the same place, go see further but not too far from the place where he broke you.

He spool me 3 times and still he is biting again. I need to get better gear.

I tried fishing in the same exact spot, the spot where he broke off, and the immediate surrounding area for HOURS. Tried multiple rod/reel/bait variations and I haven't got a single bite in probably 7-8 hours of fishing for Goldstein... I'm not sure what to do...

He bit on my 2nd cast, got off and hasn't bit again in over 7 hours of fishing....

As noted above I can also confirm: as long as the window is still open and you have not caught him you will still have the opportunity.

Ended up getting him right before time expired! Not sure why he wasn't biting again for such a long period but in the end I was able to get another bite. Thought my game was being buggy but I guess Goldstein was just being stubborn.

But your icon was grey'd out, Is this still the case?, I lost my fish on a game bug that kicked me out and mine is still grey

No mine was still purple until I actually caught him
