in their latest Q/A they said the mechanics of "rod play" would be as life like as possible. They are also working on "need zones" for the fish based on water temp, time of day, and altitude (i guess for vertical differentiation in some maps, or perhaps they meant depth of water idk).
Pro's for Angler
- Cross Platform
- Friends can share a boat so probably fish "Migration" of some sort and not a time stamp mechanic with a set # of fish spawns
- Much better graphics (probably won't see same bushes and textures map after map)
- A larger team that hopefully listens to the community because FP doesn't except "yes" people and those that can't even catch a bait fish IRL lol.
- US waterways on initial release where the majority on FP players still prefer to play on and will probably expand globally over time
- Fresh new fishing game.
Pro's for Fishing Planet (for now)
- The best mobile fishing game out there lol
- Competitions and tournaments (for now)
- Great community minus a very select few FP fan girls that are already looking for the smallest of things to bash the Angler on months ahead of actual release.
Conclusion:
Game play is the key, so time will tell. Hopefully they'll take their time and nail it upon release. Attention to the small details in a fishing game adds up to,
I haven't been excited for a new fishing game in the last 6+ years until now.
Yes they do push the sale of $20-$50 DLC's was a bit excessive especially when things go unfixed, but it's also a FTP business model too. I think they just went a bit overboard when milking the pandemic rush to a degree.
I'm sincerely curious as to which game you think is a good fishing simulator?
UF2 beats it all with real population in the lakes and zone points not just on temp, time day, etc
