how do you know what legendary fish is active?

I read somewhere that only one legendary fish can ba active at a time.
If that's the case how does one find out which fish is around?

Play multiplayer. Turn the catch feed on. Wait for someone else to catch it. Mark the spot. Done.

Also join the official Discord and look under Trophy Gallery, there is always the latest legendary trophy, usually with a map of the exact location it was caught. Good luck.
