What is the 'baitcasting' and 'jig' fishing all about?
I'm on PS5 but can't find any other forum to ask questions about this. I had tutorials on spinning and float fishing but I can also buy "Baitcasting" rods/ equipment and "Jigs" but have no idea what they are for.

Is there a tutorial for this on PC? I was watching a PC stream and noticed they had considerably more tutorials than the console version did.

Also, as there are no "Match" reels, does it matter what kind of reel you use for match fishing?

Baitcasting rrods/reels are used just like a spincast. Just a different style. Also in this game baicasting setups are heavier.

Jigheads are for adding the plastic baits onto a hook.

Jigging can be done with any lure however (by holding down the appropriate key/button). Mostly used for fish that are down deep (mostly from a boat with lure beneath you). Cast, let lure sink to bottom then hold jigging key/button to move lure up down near the bottom until fish comes along rather than a standard cast and retrieve.

Match rods use spincast reels.

Try jigging in the SW big lake in GRR, near the buoy there, and see what bites!

Thanks for the explanation, much appreciated.

And I'm heading to that lake to give it a go.

Hmm interesting. First of all I had some good success jigging for some silver lake trout for missions. Took me a while but I think I'm kinda getting it.

At one point though, when I was fishing near the buoy in the SW big lake, something took my entire 90m of line on 95% tension and then obviously my line snapped. My biggest rig is only about 7kg (about 15.5lbs) at the moment though....so I'll be back!
