small fish
Hello, I have a question? I have done all the tasks for the shopkeeper. So all fish species caught as a diamond. since i've finished with it, i've only been able to hook small fish that hardly score any points. is this normal or is something broken here? I stuck to the recommended gear. which rod with hook and bait for which fish. there is a table where you can look it up. but no matter what i do, i only hook juveniles or fish with a bronze rating. but no more big fish. So those with silver or gold rating. and certainly not diamond anymore. so if it goes on like this, fishing is no longer worthwhile. because if you don't score points, it takes forever to earn money. and i don't have that much time to spend hours fishing for a few credits.

Hello again derMack. Yes, the diamonds are the easiest to catch during the missions; however, once they are done, the diamonds seem to disappear from the mission spots and they are extremely hard to find and catch again. Anyway, you can catch big fish (eg, lake trout, northern pike, etc) with the right gear and that gear is free if you download the free DLC here:

That the reason why I quiet the game.

It's not about whether I have a diamond on my hook. it's about the size of the fish. I use the right rod. I use size 5 to 2 hooks for pike and rainbow trout. and for the american arctic char the hooks size 2 and #1/0. these are exactly the values in the table. but if i equip the rod with it, no more fish will bite. I'm forced to go back to the little hooks. to me that doesn't make any sense. Why offer larger hooks if they have no purpose. I'm aware that I'll have to wait longer for larger fish until one comes along. but all casts with the fishing rod are empty casts. so the game is pointless for me. If I want to fish, I also want to have something on the hook that is worthwhile. and after the missions this is no longer the case. this should be corrected urgently.

Well, you complained before about something else and you eventually figured it out yourself so I am certain you will figure out a solution for this issue as well. Only time will tell.

but it may be taking too long for me. One can only hope that the developers will improve this.

I changed the setup of the rod again. It works a bit better with the points, but there are still a lot of small fish biting, silver or gold is almost not among them. if so, i can now score more points thanks to the changed setup. american char in silver got over 8000 points. that's what I want to see. then the hunt for the fish is worthwhile. but the developers still have a lot of work to do. but I am confident that they will make it.

The problem is that you can easily catch them in missions.
Missions don't teach you anything that should be taught, such as proper fishing spots, proper equipment, or proper fishing methods.
The missions in this game are downright irresponsible and it's neither a tutorial nor challenging. It just gives you false knowledge and confuses you.
Rather, the state after the mission is normal.
Hopefully this will improve in the next update.

I totally agree with that. in the missions, the fish are delivered to the player's home, so to speak. a real hint system for the right fishing is missing in the game. such as: which hook for which size of fish. here are only the baits that you can use. but even those are not complete enough to give the player the necessary information. also missing in the game a statement. which objects are compatible with each other? it has often happened to me that i have bought an item of equipment only to find out afterwards that it doesn't fit. you have to check the steam community first to get the information you need. why aren't these information tables in the game??? instead of doing something useful, they decided to implant useless things like wooden figures or notes into the game as collectibles. or one should plant and look for diseased trees. and what the hell were these bigfoot tracks supposed to do??? this has nothing to do with fishing in general. moreover, you have to be out and about in the countryside for these tasks and you can't go fishing here. i spent several hours collecting all the collectibles. to find every plant and tree. that could have been done more sensibly. with tasks where the player can learn more about fishing. tasks that could have taken place on the water. the game warden isn't much help either and fills your ears with useless things. and you can't even turn it off to be able to get rid of this squashed. One can only hope that the developers will improve this properly. the game is fun overall. even if it spoils the fun here and there.
