Match rod vs spinning rod
Both can be used for a float setup. What is the benefit of a match rod over a spinning rod then in the game?

The match rods are just a little weaker top end in this game that spinning rods. To be honest IRL I've always used spinning rods for float fishing so I'm not sure what the actual benefits IRL would be either.

Ok found out the difference. A match rod lets you cast farther out than a spinning rod.

That makes sense.

match rods IRL are for "small" fish like Pike.

I think in some way this is also the same in the game. The strongest match rod is weaker than the strongest spinning rod and also can't be equipped with the same line strength as the strongest spinning rod. But it casts about 13m farther than my spinning rod with the float.
I wouldn't consider pike a small fish... bluegill is a small fish. I've caught 36" pike IRL.

LOL, I was going to say the same thing. Northern Pikes here in Canada tend to get pretty big and are quite the fight. Hell, even in game there's a Northern Pike legendary 'the Dominator'.

We don't call em "fresh water Barracudas" in the Great Lakes area for nothing.
