Mono is basically super stretchy and was the first type of mass produced fishing line, it floats pretty well which sometimes makes topwater lures have better action. Downside is it's pretty thick compared to fluoro and braid.
Fluorocarbon line is somewhere between mono and braid in terms of stretchiness, but it's big upside is it's practically invisible in the water due to how it's made. It's generally my go-to line type IRL for most fishing since it's so versatile.
Braid has basically no stretch what-so-ever since it's made of a fabric braided together that's somewhat similar to strands of kevlar. It's typically used when fishing places with tons of weeds or if you're flipping jigs or frogs into pads/grass. Since there's no stretch to it, you tend to feel everything that touches your lure which can be great for fishing along the bottom. It's super thin too so you can fit a LOT of high strength line on your reel, while at the same time having a really smooth cast. Tends to be super popular for salt water or people chasing massive catfish or carp.
Now I'm kinda wondering if we'll ever get a mechanic for having 1 type of line with a different type of line as a leader. Like braided line with a Fluorocarbon leader on it.
It might just flavor for now, I see.
