Walkabout Mini Golf

Needs Local Multiplayer.
Not sure why they never did this. Would be really simple. Have the players choose how many holes before swap, and how many players. So if they choose 3 holes then people play 3, then the next person, etc. The system is already set at 9, so that would be an easy go, right there. Even if the only option was 9 holes then swap, that would be something. my friends and i have to take a screen shot, and then see who did the best.
very simple, people want it, and easy to do.
Why not do it?

This exists. Do 9 holes at a time. And write down your scores. You don't need to ♥♥♥♥ over the entire community for devs to waste EVERYONES time because you are too lazy to take a pen to paper. I want absolutely zero time dedicated to such a waste of a feature. They should be spending time on things we can't already do.

This has been asked for many many many many many many many many times. Would be super appreciated as a feature.

playing with family on one headset
hi
just bought the game and cannot see how i play with more than one player on my headset, i want to play one hole then pass to family memeber so they can play same hole and so on, how do you do it??
zenpunk 25/jul./2023 às 15:06
It's baffling this *still* isn't in the game, or that it ever left beta without it. I'd imagine this would be how most people want to play, by far.

Why even force a set switch time? It should just let you play as long as you want, then hit a 'change player' button, and pass the headset. New player takes the headset, selects their name, and plays however long they want ... 1 stroke, 1 hole, 3 holes, whatever. It's crazy this hasn't been part of the game since day 1.

I bought the game and have enjoyed it, but I've stopped playing (and buying DLC) until they do this. It's way, way, way past time.

Yep, grab a pen and paper. You make it sound super easy to tell them to just write code. Do it. It will take 5 minutes! No it won't, it will take more like 12 - 20 hours of Development time which at $40 - $70 ( the average going rate) an hour for a developers time can be costly. Then you get to pay for the QA time. Test the new build, find bugs, fix bugs, rebuild, test, find bugs, fix bugs rebuild until it's working properly. Coding is NOT SIMPLE, EVER. You are talking probably a few thousand dollars just so you don't have to use a pen. Dream on, this feature it will probably never happen.

You obviously know nothing about coding. This would be a super simple change. Heck, it's not even coding, it's closer to just scripting. The UI work would take longer than the coding, but even that could be super simple. Functionality over looks, I always say (or that's what my wife says about me, anyway).

It's obviously not not being done because it's difficult or expensive... it's neither of those. I think the devs just have no idea how many people want it nor just how much it would improve their game. Just like how they ignored the Unity one-eye for ages because it only affected their WMR users, a relatively small portion of their audience. Until a user stepped in and did about 5 minutes of script editing to fix the problem.

I love the game, but haven't played it in ages, and stopped buying the expansions, just '♥♥♥ it's so local-multiplayer unfriendly.

So a game designed from the ground up to play holes only in one order is a "scriping but not coding" change? Knowing how to make simple 1 file python scripts doesn't make you a developer. Games are complex intertwining programs. Nothing about this feature is simply "write a new srcipt" given the game is already designed with a linear progress in mind.

Why argue about the effort here? I am so disappointed thet there´s no local multiplayer support, where one playxs ahole, then change to the next player - like it´s in all other mini golf games.
I wonder why they don´t add it to the game.....won´t play it anymore until this feature exists.

You do know that in multiplayer the game isnt linear at all, right?. While implementing a change player might be a little more work, reusing the multiplayer work, where it swap between local entity that are predefined in number on every single shot isnt that much more to do since they already have the base done.

Maybe not? Coding is a learning process you never 'master it'. I run a development team of 20 people. We code directly in Solidworks, Catia, Autodesk and other major 3d CAD programs. We turn 3D design into flat patterns and then program CNC code to make the parts from these 3D cad systems. Not exactly Golf, but yeh I know nothing about development or coding.

Its completely linear. Your client does ONE hole at a time. Just like in single-player. The logic used behind both is exactly the same. Replaying a hole, and then tracking that score separately is not something that's done in multiplayer. The scores are *SENT* to you. You watch the other players. You client does not execute their progression or track their scores. You are simply witheld from moving onto the next hole until you get a response from the server its ok.
