Single player?
Is this worth getting if I would only be playing in single player?

Yup, great challenge to find all the “lost” balls and acquire new putters AND playing the individual courses IS fun and challenging. This game IS the gold standard for VR minigolf! All others pale in comparison (of course I’m a bit biased as I have completed all the existing DLCs and eagerly await the hew Elvis and Wallace & Grommet DLCs).

This game offers so much. Mini Golf. then the challenge of finding 18 balls a course. fox hunt where you follow clues to add new putters. and there are many hours of exploring the landscapes that you will find it money well spent.

I'd say so. Base game has 8 courses, with 18 holes each. Every map, including dlc, has a hard mode as well, so double that. Normal mode has a lost ball per hole and hard mode has a foxhunt to unlock a new putter. SO base game has a whopping 8 golf clubs, 144 balls, and 288 individual courses. If you include all the DLC that is currently out, that boosts it to an additional 18 courses, a total of 468 lost balls, 26 putters/foxhunts, and 936 individual holes (if my math is correct which it may not be). Note that hardmode of maps aren't just that each hole is harder, though that is the case, but that it is a different map in general. Sometimes it just becomes night, other times its more complex like a storm or being in black and white. This can also include shifted or different decorations around the maps so its not just 1 to 1 but with a different filter.

 Uh so rant over, yes I would say so. Obviosuly better WITH friends, but alone is still fun.
