I would like to try galshell but too many links are fishy on the web. Is vector.co.jp safe?

a lot of 2000s software and games are hosted on vector.co.jp so yes it is safe and that is where the game is distributed by its developer

i downloaded galshell but it ran at 2 fps and crashed instantly lol

Sorry for the months late reply, download this program called dgVoodoo and its accompanying .dll files, along with this file called ddraw.dll which you can find here https://github.com/CnCNet/cnc-ddraw/releases
Then place the dgVoodoo.exe file, the .dll files and the .conf file in the same folder as the .exe of the game.

This is the configuration I made and use with every single old doujin game including galshell, set the games to be in full screen (talking about old games in general, not just galshell) and it'll be in a 1440x1080 fullscreen resolution, assuming the game is 4:3, you'll be able to alt+enter in and out of fullscreen and the game should be fine to screenshare on Discord or recorded on OBS https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/876033142492917791/1005254704168714290/dgVoodoo.conf
