It shows Rockstar/Take-Two is at least trying to address the issue.
I imagine they'll try something different in GTA6's online mode, but who can say if it'll be effective or not.
I'm hoping for the best, but given Rockstar/Take-Two's Track record with these kinds of online worlds, I'm not expecting much. :(
The best solution for players would be secure dedicated servers which Rockstar could more easily moderate and take action against cheaters, but I understand that's an expensive solution.
Still, given that GTA Online is one of the most profitable pieces of media ever created - I can't imagine the game still wouldn't make ludicrous amounts of money, even if Rockstar/Take-Two did invest in dedicated servers - but maybe there's another piece to the puzzle I'm not seeing.
TLDR: I hope GTA6 has a better online experience, but I wouldn't count on it.
Funny that they didn't even implement it into RDO since it's abandoned now.
GTA6 Online will most likely only have battleye as well and it will only be a matter of time before the cheaters become out of hand.
