How much of the game is hidden behind a pay wall?
Go to a bounty board... oh you dont have enough gold.
Go to the general store...start a hunting buisness,, sounds fun... oh not much in the coffers at the minute...
Did I actually buy the game or is this some sort of trial version lol

You just need to learn how to play it smartly. You don't need to spend an y more money unless you want shortcuts.

Best way to earn and manage gold:
- Do NOT waste gold on stuff until you have ALL of the roles. Use it only for critical things.
- Focus on Stranger missions first to earn gold.
- Get the Bounty Hunter role.
- Use the Bounty Hunter to earn more gold and do anything else you want with it.
- Save up 25 gold bars for the next Quick Draw pass, before buying the other roles.
- Roles go on sale every so often. So... when you buy roles (other than Bounty Hunter) do it only when on sale.

For RDO$, the best way to earn it is with the Collector role and the jeanropke map.

Yeah, this game pushes it’s monetization pretty aggressively. :P

The best way to earn gold early on is by completing ‘Stranger Missions’ (the orange symbols on the map in Free Roam), and by doing “Daily Challenges.’

Once you have enough gold to buy a Role, purchase the Bounty Hunter. This Role lets you earn Gold at a quicker rate.

Do as many daily challenges you can,and keep the multiplier going. After lvl 10 i think, you get a treassure map every 5 lvl. use thoes , the treasures on avg. have 1gold 100ROD$ each.
Reset awards for 0.4 goldbar.

I folded and purchased 55 gold, should be enough to get the bounty hunter and collector, with 25 left over for when the others go on sale

A fool and his money are soon parted lol (yeah i feel weak willed on that...seeing it as pricey dlc)
With New world out I am not sure I will be playing read dead enough to max out the pass?
with the professions I now have them for life so it seemed a "good" purchase

Its 25 levels only, all exp you earn will count, with that in mind i had 7 of each collection ready and had the 25 lvl in under 2 mins.
Not sure how much you play, but if you have. I recon if you play daily for ahour or so then with-in a week or two you would finish it.

None of this game is locked behind a paywall. I have hundreds of levels and hundreds of bars of accumulated gold - I have never paid for anything beyond my initial copy of RDR2. You can choose to buy gold bars with real money, but all you are doing is paying for convenience of being able to unlock roles/items earlier than you otherwise would by simply playing the game for a while.

That is the same argument that can be made for buying things in gta online... dedicate your life to the game and you can afford a nice car (or play a very specific way for few weeks and you can afford that car)...that, and the griefers, killed GTAO for me.
RDO does not seem as bad true, but it is still annoying. I got .10 of a bar for the daily I did .... .10 lol
I have bounty hunter and collector now though, and I am enjoying the game. did some hunting to earn money for guns before work

I got the game for 5 bucks in December and bought 55 gold as well and have been enjoying the game ever since...the gold and roles were on sale then so I got 3 for my investment very worth while

Paid a bit more than $5 for my copy, despite the fact its on sale at 50% off.....oh well that plus the gold should still equal a lot of fun

Guys, do remember that a new player trying to earn the QuickDraw pass has far fewer dailies than we do. But as mentioned he should still have the 7 dailies, Stranger missions, and any treasure maps he uses (which he randomly gets from looking enemies). And since he bought both Bounty Hunter and Collector, those will help too. Don't forget to use the jeanropke map for Collector (updated daily).

Even so, if he plays enough he should be more than able to do all 25 levels of the QuickDraw pass in a week or less.

Save the 25 gold he gets back for the next QuickDraw pass.

"Experienced player with 100+ hours has an advantage over new player with 0 hours, news at 11."

Everyone starts with identical FREE tools to generate money/gold in the game. If new players use their time wisely, they can quickly advance. Even if new players just mess around and join whatever missions, events, etc, they'll find themselves leveling up and earning gold. Grinding only affects the speed at which you advance, and after level 100 or so, you hit a plateau where the gold/money/XP is pretty useless anyway.

Never bought Gold in RDO and got all the roles, etc. The beginning is a bit grindy, but after a while you swim in Gold if you do like 1 or 2 missions and at least a daily every day. So, maybe an hour of gaming each day, far from dedicating your life to it.
In GTA on the other hand I never got enough money to buy anything important, even after gaming for quite a while. Its a much worse cash grab, without paying or cheating you need to play it full time to earn stuff.
