For the past year, since I bought it, I played from my work laptop, on low, bare minimal and struggled.
Today, we play on Quantum ;)
Red Dead Online is honestly a lost cause at this point. :/
Who knows, GTA6 could be just as doomed.
The current GTA Online is one of the most profitable games ever made; the GTA6 devs have a nigh-impossible task of trying to build something even half as profitable as what's currently released.
And if the game doesn't generate high enough profits, it'll likely get abandoned just like Red Dead Online. :(
Either way, here's hoping GTA6 isn't another cheater-infested mess on PC.

jackie chan did it better
I know all that, but review bombing is not a bad thing in itself, it is also a message from the players to show that they will not let themselves be walked all over.
There have been many examples like one of the recent review bombings on Helldivers 2 or Total War Warhammer 3, the latter made the developers question themselves, this unfortunately also resulted from a mass license.
But because the management for some time was disastrous and they would have had to do it one way or another because the studio had become much too massive for its sales and the quality wasn't even there.
🤣 She'll be 30 years older and you'll be hanging out at the Saloon with the paid lovers 👻
I found a video of grandpa Pike thinking about Smellest Davenport

Smart, logical assessment.
Every paying customer deserve to speak his/her opinion about the game, whether they enjoy the game or not. Obviously, management will look at game ratings, along with other factors, as part of a larger project assessment of the game's performance -- as long as the reviews are genuine/valid.
Regarding "review bombing." In the business world, money talks; ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ walks. That applies to projects that get priorities. So for games or projects that aren't meant as the main cash cow, overwhelming negative reviews that are exaggerated beyond the state of the game with the intention of forcing changes would do the opposite of what the reviewers might intend.
Bad reviews are naturally a barrier for new players to buy a game. Less purchases mean less financial performance on paper. Instead of creating positive change and development team adds more things to the game, management can look at the project as under-performing and allocate resources to another game that is making more money all together.
For small studios with 1 game every few years, genuine negative reviews can have a more desired effect of getting developers' attention to improve. For big organizations, money speaks louder than words. If you don't like the product, don't buy it. It applies to all companies, not just games.

I say this strictly due to hackers. Something needs to be said about the online experience. I also wish rockstar would release one major update to the online once a year to at least give something to it.
They make their money, I see 0 reason why they can’t spare the resources for red dead other than they aren’t getting as much money as gta which has been established with a decades worth of content
lol, if I didn't know better I'd accuse Rockstar/Take-Two of purchasing multiple copies of this game and leaving positive reviews. XD
It's honestly an incredible game, but the cheaters completely ruin it. :/
In the Steam RDR2 store page there is a 92% positive response. Almost all of them talk about how horrible Online is.
Guessing R* got lucky in that most people own both versions and appreciate the beauty of RDR2 more than they hate Online.
I'm surprised the Steam Listing for "Red Dead Online" (the multiplayer exclusive version) isn't "mixed."
I can understand the regular game being highly rated; the single player campaign is genuinely amazing. :D
I wish I could say the same about the multiplayer. :/
