Best controller for pc
Have always played keyboard/mouse, and never owned a console, but after reading about people using a controller with their pc, it's got me curious to try it. What's the best controller to use with a pc? Would that same controller be the best for pc across all games? If you play RDR2/RDO on pc with a controller, which one do you use/recommend? Which is more ergonomically friendly: keyboard/mouse or controller? Can you use/enable both a controller and keyboard/mouse at the same time (so you can instantly switch between them, and still have access to the keyboard key bindings)?

Yeah you can easily switch between input devices with xinput controllers, what all modern controllers should support. I recommend the xbox controller and if you want something more valuable or muneh is not that important for you just get the xbox elite controller.

(Noob question): What exactly is a "Playstation-like controller"?

Xbox (specifically like a One S controller) is easily better if you don't NEED the DualShock specific features like gyro stuff and touch pad. Also the only games that really need controllers are driving games and fighting games like Dark Souls, Mortal Kombat, and For Honor. (Most emulation too if you do that) I wouldn't recommend using a controller for this game or any other TPS/FPS, I do however use a controller for GTA 5 because of the driving/flying and menu navigation.
Xbox Controller....dont listen to that garbage. Just buy a Controller that has all the Buttons you need.

What useful replies "Playstation-like controller" with no reason as to why or what that means and "a Controller that has all the Buttons you need." also Xbox is better because it's just all around more supported on a Windows machine and on Steam. Sometimes PlayStation controllers don't just work right when you plug them in like an Xbox controller does, but like I said if you need the gyroscope or touch pad which I think would only be needed on a very select few number of games if you emulate. If you REALLY prefer a PlayStation controller then go for it but I doubt OP would of asked this if that were the case.

Text chat is for people who don't have a mic or friends, game doesn't need it.

I would say Xbox controller since its more optimized towards Windows OS. If you play a game with a Playstation controller, by default it'll be xbox button prompts.

I use a Xbox one elite controller version one and have had no issues playing red dead 2 online. I have a the wireless USB adapter hooked to my pc and play on my living room tv. I can even use my chat head set hooked to my controller. I to would recommend an xbox controller as there are more games on PC and windows that support the xbox controller. Some of the newer xbox controllers also can hook to PC with blue tooth if your PC has blue tooth. I think but I am not 100% but you would have to check that it is the xbox controllers that have the 3.5 mm jack built into them for blue tooth.

I use wired DualShock 4 with Back Button Attachment and KontrolFreek Thumbsticks.
