[ SOLVED ] Can't play game .. Steam failed to initialize.
Steam failed to initialize. Please verify that the steam client is running and try again
unable to launch game, please try reinstalling the game

Why ?, please help

Fix for Rockstars Launcher Jan 31 update mistake

Confirmed, i found a solution! 🌟 Follow steps below:

In Steam, right click RDO and click Properties. In General tab, in Launch Options field, type in: -steamAppId=1404210

It should launch the the Rockstar launcher at least.

Then go to RDR2 Steam Apps folder, make sure that both the RDR2.exe and RDR2 Launcher are running as administrator. You right click on both, go to Properties, then Capability, and select run as administrator.

Launched the game! Hopefully this works for more players. 🙏

same error , steam failed to launch, starting it via rockstar , then steam says no licenses.

I also have the same problem on two different PCs , I have only the online version but my friend has both the online and story, has no problems

Happening on Win 11 as well.
its not abt win its abt that you dont have full game with story mode and you trying to play rdo not rdr2

I'm on the latest version of Windows 10. I've done all the suggestions I could find---uninstalled, re-installed, restarted, moved files, cleared cache, updates, etc. none of them have worked--Arrrgh!

i heard that they messed up steam shortcuts so when you try to launch rdo steam tries to launch rdr2 which obviously fails if you only have rdo, idk if thats true tho

pure io ho questo problema ho provato tutte le opzioni ma non funziona dice che non ho la licenza, fino a questa notte ho giocato anche se saltava sempre
