Answer:
Painting a “bullseye” on yourself.
It lets griefers know you don’t want to be messed with, which is exactly why they’ll single-you-out.
. . .
Solid game design Rockstar!
Seriously, it’s useless. The Passive Mode in GTA Online is WAY better (you can’t damage other players, other players can’t damage you).
Sadly, it’s just another example of how the game design in GTA Online is far superior to RDO. :(
Red Dead Online does let you “Parley,” but you can only do that after being killed, and you re-spawn miles away from where you died which is incredibly frustrating. :/
passive was useful on console as for pc it not modders turn off passive and beat the thing out of you.
The question is whether it is effective. Indeed, it is.
Agree to disagree?
Moreover, claiming that players will specifically target you just because you're in defensive mode is an inaccurate statement. I'm beginning to seriously question the validity of your advice.
Pookie’s post here is already proof enough that there’s players who are disappointed with RDO’s defensive mode. I also find it incredibly underwhelming.
Does it help? Sure, a little; but if a griefer is really hellbent on attacking you disabling their aim assist and preventing paint it black isn’t going to stop them. :(
I much prefer GTAO Online’s “passive mode” which simply negates all PvP damage, but different strokes for different folks I suppose.
In GTA you can completely opt out of PvP if you wish. In RDO you can just make attacking you slightly more difficult, and can only opt-out for a few minutes (via parley) after your attacker has already killed you.
That feels like a pretty big down-grade to me. o_o
lol, and your 1000 hours experience doesn’t hurt either. ;)
But for newer players without all those advantages, defensive mode really isn’t gonna do much for them, especially if they’re attacked by a much higher ranked player.
So alright, I agree. If you’re a maxed-out player with maxed-out defence ability cards, and have been playing for hundreds of hours defensive mode is amazing! :D
But for everyone else it’s a whole lot less useful. ;)
There's something else on my mind that I want to address. It's quite uncommon for advanced players to target newcomers. I'm puzzled as to where you've heard otherwise. The majority of seasoned players in this game are welcoming and don't flaunt their high-level skills by bullying low-level players who are simply trying to make modest progress in town. Typically, the scenario unfolds in reverse, with a less experienced player attempting to prove their strength by foolishly attacking a more skilled player and catching them off guard. Just a thought.
If you are in defensive mode, i cant get a headshot kill, and have to shoot you a couple or 3 times. Also, you must be closer than normal to me before you will show up on my radar.
Did that make you angry?..then come and shoot me off my roof!
Im not hacking, im totally killable.
Heck, im not even that good, my hands shake and my wifi is mediocre at best.
To me, defensive mode means youre a girlgamer...not that theres anything wrong with that, if youre a girl. Girls dont have the aggression or the desire to kill, usually.
on pc alot of people use mods to take down people using defensive mode
Per banned forever that means I can't play this game anymore
