The PC version of this game is absolutely saturated with cheaters. :(

It's cheaters that are making the NPC's breath fire.

Rockstar either can't do anything to stop this cheating, or they're deliberately choosing to do nothing. :/

The only way to avoid cheaters is to play in private sessions; this video shows you how:

Or, if you own a newer PlayStation, I recommend picking up RDO on that. All the cheating really ruins the PC version of RDO; you don't have to worry about cheaters on the PlayStation.

They’re obviously Dragonborn warriors that took too many arrows to the knee

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Rockstar may be a AAA game development studio, but they specialize in console releases.

They’re completely hopeless when it comes to minimizing cheating on PC, things are just as bad on the PC version of GTA Online. :(

Again, you never see these problems in the PlayStation version of the game.

There are smaller developers than Rockstar that have competent anti-cheat software. Rockstar are aware of the issue and have sued developers of some of the cheat trainer mods. There's also more than one solution, anti-cheat software, private servers, etc. Rockstar could fix this overnight if they wanted to.
They do not care and they do not respect their customer base. If Red Dead One gets a remake like the rumors are saying, with Online integration, people paying for that experience on PC get what they pay for, which is to be treated like garbage.

Yeah. :(

I honestly don’t think Rockstar cares about their PC audience. I’m sure their console player-base is much larger. We’re likely just a small bonus to their revenue, not at all worth the time or investment to ensure we’re getting a playable experience. :/

Or, I’ve heard cheating is much less of an issue along the North American East Coast. Rockstar HQ is in New York. Maybe Rockstar just hasn’t experienced firsthand how BAD the cheating can get, and don’t realize how it’s completely ruining their product for many players. :(

As of right now, there are ways to play the game as intended. There's only two things needed. Friends and people to join you.

I don't think joining public sessions and having clones of your character attack you, or being teleported all over the map and flung into the sky qualifies as "the game as intended."

In fact, playing is private/solo sessions is not playing the game as intended because Rockstar never released an officially-supported in-game way to do this. :(

The only way to play the game as intended is to pick up a copy on the PlayStation where cheating isn't a problem.

If you want to play RDO on PC, you're going to have to "jump-through-hoops" and avoid public sessions as well as and public PvP and public Co-op matches.

It’s really disappointing how poorly supported this game is. I can’t think of another online world built by a triple-A game studio that’s in as rough of shape as RDO for PC. :(
