Red Dead Online standalone… eh…
If I’m being 100% honest, you’d probably have more fun playing GTA Online; it’s a much better designed and supported game than Red Dead Online is.
Red Dead Online hasn’t received a major update in almost a year, and each update has been getting smaller and smaller. At this point, the RDO community is unsure if RDO will ever receive another update again. :(
There’s also a bunch of small “quality of life” things that GTAO handles way better than RDO; such as being able to have multiple characters, selecting the mission difficulty so things aren’t too easy or hard, customize PvP matches to keep things fair, skip repetitive cut-scenes, proper multiplayer lobbies for all game modes, better balanced game economy, prompts that alert you when other players are starting multiplayer activities so you can join them, text chat so you can actually communicate back-and-forth with other players, etc, etc…
GTAO’s just a better built game. @_@
You can also find other players in GTAO much easier, whereas RDO can feel like a ghost town most of the time.
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents. Some people really like Red Dead Online. Me personally, I would recommend the RDR2 single-player campaign, or GTA Online over RDO.
for comparisson i have finished AC origins 100% in 84 hours and it was a full price game.
and there's the hacker problem that you'd be fine if you learn how to avoid them.
I have played the online for over a year and 1500 hours of gameplay , what kept me going were friends and big gangs that I was a memeber of , just hanging around riding along on boring ass delivery missions , fighting against other clans and pvp can make your moments fun . some clans that I was a member of came up with their own special kind of content and events , the creativy that made every moment so memorable , like boxing pitch and it;s rules and league , photography contests , horse races around the map and a lot more .
and it's not an rpg since no choice really matters and you won't be making any desicions other then two minor scenarios in story missions. but the customizing mechanic is just amazing , character creation is decent and there are a lot of cosmetic and clothing items to purchase (not as good as GTA yet) but you can make a lot of unigue outfits each time puting different clothing parts together , specially if you have a good rig the graphics are totally on another level , just passing by the bard's crossing bridge at evenings or early mornings misty weather makes you stop and just stare at your screen !
it's not like the game is bad.. but rather a huge wasted potential ... a tragedy I would say.
Yup, after you’ve had a blast playing GTA Online then it’s worth checking out RDO. XD
I will agree with this. RDO is a MUCH better experience if you have friends who are also playing it. However, if you’re planning to play it solo, the experience can be very desolate; there’s no text chat, and pretty much no one uses the voice chat. :/
However, if you enjoy playing multiplayer games because you like wandering around alone, or having zero social interaction with your teammates, then RDO is the game for you! :P
1) Prices and expenses
You need to play for several hours to afford yourself ONE piece of clothing, as opposed to half an hour tops in GTA. I had HUGE wardrobe there, that I didn't even notice I had to pay for, here I can barely afford one outfit. On top of it guns cost way too much, bullets cost more than they should, etc. Add on top of it far bigger maintenance (camp and stable) than GTA (garage and apartment) comparative to each other. Game makes me feel like I need to grind just to stay in the green. In GTA a had several garages full of luxurious cars, yacht, the best apartments (for a while), all guns, tons of clothes and loads of cash on top. Here I could barely get myself change of clothes and few guns.
2) Content
In GTA: Online there were heists, and I loved them. Story, gameplay, coop elements and huge payouts for something entirely PvE and rather enjoyable in the process. Know how to do it properly and you can farm them for TONS of cash. In this game nothing even comes close in gameplay-payoff values. I had some fun times with some missions, but they get way too repetitive, considering there are so few of them.
3) Lack of Content
As people stated - this game is dead. Well, it is dying to be precise. Rockstar abandoned it in favor of GTA: Online. Few updated, worse mechanics, worse monetization. It is a failed project that will never receive any love from their creators.
And multiply this on the fact that I LOVE wild west and would much-much-much prefer for the opposite outcome, where GTA: Online would be abandoned in favor RDR: Online, but here we are.
