You aren't doing bounties for RDO$, you are doing them for Gold. Bounty Hunter pays the least RDO$ of all 5 roles.

Actually depends on the distance between the bounty and the office, you may find capturing bounties in west elizabeth and turning them over in blackwater sheriff station gets you less reward than by turning it in new hanover. im guessing maybe time and distance

I can’t remember the exact numbers, but I believe there are reward ‘time-brackets.’ The more time you spend on a mission, the more RDO$, Gold, and XP you earn.

I somehow recall 12 minutes being the sweet-spot.

Yep - all Free Roam Missions are like that... get to objective - let the timer run down to under a minute and score big.

I was being attacked by animals and men on one of them - relentlessly - so I got within sight of the objective to stop the waves - got there a 'little' early and had to wait 9 minutes... I made a grilled cheese sammich, aet it and watched the weather channel for a while...lol

There are certain conditions that will reset the timer in a Bounty Mission - and you'll have to let it run down again to get the Max Payout. I suggest you enable the mission timer - if it's not already.

Here's the payout we get based on time spent in the mission. Like Juice mentioned, the longer you stay in the mission, the more you'll make.

Payouts:
~ Under 2 minutes = 0.04 Gold
~ 2-6 minutes = 0.08 Gold
~ 6-10 minutes = 0.12 Gold
~ 10-12 minutes = 0.24 Gold
~ 12-15 minutes = 0.32 Gold
~ 15-20 minutes = 0.36 Gold
~ 20-25 minutes = 0.40 Gold
~ 25-30 minutes = 0.44 Gold

when i was doing some good honest bounty hunt work i would try to get the timer down as low as possible for the max payout, under 30 seconds left on the clock was my goal , the best paydays were when i would drop off the live heathen outlaw as the timer was ticking down from 10 seconds, now i have plenty of gold in the bank so i just drop them off without paying attention to the clock
