You can also join the resupply mission or delivery mission for a posse member to gain XP. Coordinating with other players is a great way to level up quickly and make easy money.
Finally, join in the Trade Route event in Free Roam whenever it pops up - it's usually twice per day. You'll get a lot of XP plus up to 18 goods and about $40-75 for completing it.
I got all roles like that, the game developed just in the right speed. Felt like playing and progress.
Dont forget to get the medium trader waggon when you can unlock it as trader. Thats the first step to get more money for the material.
I think i made the most gold with dailies. Especially in streak week 3 and 4.
Trader is possibly the most Grindy of them all, since it relies on very specific sources.
-Run resupply missions, this can be completed by talking to Cripps at your camp's butcher table and selecting "Start Resupply Mission" (Presumably if your production is halted).
-Collect and donate animal skins, full carcasses, or animal materials.
-Successfully deliver and sell supplies.
-Intercept or steal a rival player's trader wagon.
-Participate in the "Trade Route" Free roam event. (Rewards 18 Goods, 0.24-0.48 Gold & $50-$100 Upon Completion.)

In retrospective, no role needed much to get to level 10. And from then on it was even faster.
As i said earlier, the gaining is a big part of the game. You dont want it fast over. One day you suddenly have all. And then you see what i mean.
