Perfect bear pelt

Anybody willing to help me get one? I'm 24 hours in trying to find one and I only get poor pelt. I use high velocity rounds ,normal or express ...same thing. All bears spawn with 1 star. Maybe somebody knows a trick :(

Uhm...Can't you just hide behind some trees far away and use a rifle or repeater? easy as pie I did this for a stranger's quest instead of walking straight up to it and blastin' its head and I had to hit it about 15 times for it to die...Hunting is no joke in this game I love it

fyi I killed the 3 star bear with a fully dirty rolling block rifle with regular ammo. head shot.

just use carcano any random ammo will do it, from manzanita to the nearest gus there is like a couple of abandoned houses do a run around see if you find a bear, if not place predator bait and climb the hill sit there waiting 9x/10 if a bear spawns it is a 3 star.
