buying RDR2 Story mode in Online game?!

I bought rdr2 online on steam. Then I want play story mode and bought it in online game screen. I add money to buy story mode in online mode. But I dont have any icon to launch story mode. I must launch online mode then click story mode to play it. When I playing story mode, It seems like playing online mode in steam. what to do?

That's how it supposed to work.

If you wanted "Red Dead Redemption 2" on your Steam account then you needed to buy Red Dead Redemption 2.

So, I only own RDO. Later on, I do plan on buying RDR2 through steam. Will I have to "install" the game again? Also, I'm assuming that my current RDO character will be fine since it's a Rockstar service?

Like, will it just see that RDO is installed and have two steam launchers for the online and story modes, and the Online character will be the same regardless of which way I launch it?

Yes, you will have RDO and RDR2 separately on your library.

As for the files, the files are the same for both games, no difference. When you download RDR2 you also download RDO. When you download RDO you also download RDR2, the files are identical

So let me get this straight, the OP bought RDO standalone, then bought story mode through Rockstar launcher but didn't work? But he never comes back to resolve his story, and more people join in, I'm still confused. Did he have to buy the game twice?

This thread on reddit talks about a disconnect beween the Rockstar launcher and Steam for this very subject. Valve needs to address this:

I didn't find stand alone story mode on steam, so i bought it through the rdo. I was thinking that full rdr2 will unlocked on my account but unfortunately not. :( I was hoping to get achievements.

No, you don't need to have rdr2 on your account to be able to play this stand alone rdo. But if you buy just rdo and than buy ingame story mode you won't have rdr2 on your account. Just rdo with story in it. Pity I found it after I bought store mode.

I bought RDO first. Then bought RDR2 into RDO via steam credits. But, I dont have a RDR2 launcher speratly. I must start RDO first then click story to play RDR2. This causing no achiments on steam or play time as RDR2.

Idk about it. Because i have both because i have two account about red dead online and red dead redemption 2 launcher on steam ;)

There must be a attention about this situation before buying it. I paid via steam but I can not play it via steam. At least there must be seperate launcher via Rockstar Launcher. totaly nonsense.
