Animal count

I noticed my animal count has went up according to the plaque/coop but I don't see the additional animals. For example, my cow pasture only has Willow in it but says I have 2 cows. My chicken coop says I have 12 chickens but I only have 7 and 0 incubating. Anyone else noticed this? I wish there was a more in depth overview for the animals you own. Like which is pregnant, a list of all the ones you own, things like that.
