Where and when can I find the Fireflies? *spoiler topic*

In the main storyline the player will eventually get to the point where it is going to be Grandma's birthday soon.
The player will need to collect fireflies for the birthday.
But exactly when and where should the player go looking for them?
I have stayed up till 18:00 and could not find fireflies going around the wilderness near the farm at that time.
Furthermore, I am not sure if there is a specific location I need to go to to get them.
I usually head to bed shortly after that time to avoid being caught by wolves.
Can anyone give me some advice? Maybe a screenshot with a brief description or a detailed description of what to do with no screenshot? I know I am missing something right now.

Hey there!
Make sure to look for the Fireflies after 9:00 PM!
The safest spot is around the farm's entrance, right where you've started your adventure!
There will be no wolves there, so you'll be safe and sound!
