the wild bees cannot be put into the wild beehive after capturing both wild bee colonies (one pretty much in the middle of the map, the other by the cairns)

But since i need wild bee honey for the second quest with bees, and I couldn't put any more bees in a wild beehive, so I was left with a very, very old savegame as a lifeline.

It's a little strange. Are you sure you have a hive of forest bees? It looks different from a regular hive, and you can also fill it exclusively with forest bees.

As a last resort, you can wait a few days. If you have at least one wild bee in the hive, then every day another 10 will appear in the hive.

I collected the forest bees but couldn't build the wild bee hive. Then I noticed that the original area was still circled. So I went back and there was one wild honey on the ground. I sold that to the merchant and only then did the wild bee hive plans come from gramps.

Bees and wild bees are two different species. You will be able to build the normal hive for normal bees and a little later you will get a quest from the merchant that you can unlock the other hive, for wild bees.

So where do you find regular bees?

I think I found it on an island. Where you can find the goat, in front of the stones. Basically you just have to follow the quest line, then it's all on the way

Yesterday I finally found out how to get the wild bee honey.
because with the wild bees in the middle of the map you can also collect the honey there after you have smoked them.

I hadn't noticed that you could also collect the honey there, although you don't see a beehive there.

to the normal honey. you get one with the normal bees before the wild bee honey quest.
these are best collected by the stones.

since there are already three empty beehives on the map, you can settle the trapped wild bees from the stones there.
these then transform into domesticated bees.
which then just like the wild bees can be caught normally after they have been smoked.
