Wheat where do I get the wheat

where do I get the wheat I am on the 4th island already and not found it at all, same goes for potatoes.

use your wood sword on certain grass to get wheat. the grass was found on several islands including the first bridge you can fix.

Today's patch notes said potatoes can now be bought at the trader after day 10.
