Catch two small fish

Grandpa told me to catch two small fish for my aquarium but I don’t have a fishing rod (he didn’t give me one, can’t craft one and the shop doesn’t have one). I tried seeing if I could catch one with my bug net or just with my hands but that doesn’t work either. Any advice please? Thank you!

You get the fishing rod much later as part of a quest. After you get the goat quest. It's strange how far apart these two things are.

i think they are referring to the duck pond on the farm but you still need to get the fishing pool from your grandpa after the goat quest.

Bee dream -> Find the goat and bring the goat back to farm -> goat dream -> do a quest for the goat -> 2nd goat dream -> Grandpa will be past where you found the goat when you wake up one morning, find him and he will give you a fishing rod and fishing challenge and reward you with 4 nails if you win; you can also find another fishing rod on the stool by THAT pond (the pond by the lonely llama island).
