bugged? No Cow sign / Chest

hi all, I have two problems.
a) I have the cow in the corral but no "cow sign". i understand grandma should give it to you but she didn't give me anything.
b) the game makes me move items from inventory to "a chest" by pressing shift and the items disappear. the problem is that I don't have a chest!

Is it all buggy and I have to start over or is there a solution?

The 'Cow Sign' should be in your inventory, if your inventory was full when you received the quest, it will have automatically gone into the storage chest. This will also help you with your second query. The storage chest is in the barn along one of the side walls.

If you destroyed your storage chest, like some of us did, you can buy a new one at the vendor. It's expensive but keep selling wool, fruit and veggies until you have the money.
