Boar Breeding Help

So the game says i can start breeding boars. I think i'm near the end of the game right now.
But I just can't seem to get them to breed.
I've found some sows. Got 3 of them. They're in a paddock with a boar sign.
I went out and got a boar. One with tusks. Because i thought that had to be the male.
Brought him home, Put him in the paddock. The paddock went up 1 heart. Named him and left the area in. Come back and the male is gone. All 3 females are still there, but the male "poof". Gone.
Any ideas on how to keep the male from disappearing? And to actually Breed these guys.

I've already got the wild boar sign. I'm at the end of the game i think, since no new quests are appearing, after crafting the magic lantern. The other 3 Wild boars don't disappear. (Ones without tusks), but the one with tusks (assuming its male) Does disappear. Which is why I'm probably having issues with breeding.

Before the male Disappeared, the heart in the paddock went up one. And i'm sure i saw hearts appearing from the sign. But the second you go out of render distance, The male disappears.

i dont think you can sell them ether, i wanted to cut down on the numbers, but i could be wrong, i set mine up in a fenced area came back and they broke out...
