Turn-based combat. There has been some misinformation about a particularly fast reviewer beating the game in 7 hours, which is well below a regular players length. Some people feel like it takes too long to get into combat. I went in with cRPG-style expectations and have been having a good time.

From what I'm gathering from many thread replies and a few of the reviews, It seems a bunch of people maybe thought this was going to be an action heavy/Xcom type of thing with constant battles - and were disappointed to learn that it's more similar to Disco Elysium/Planescape/Age of Decadence in that it's more focused on telling a story with dialogue skill checks and a little combat thrown in.
(Possibly 4 stories? I'm unsure how the origin stories affect the game, I am seeing a lot of mine pop up in dialogue choices so far and each origin starting area is completely different)

Now in saying that there is certainly some merit to some of the complaints; the party members do unfortunately feel mostly just *there* and you can't seem to level them up manually. (They do exist in towns and can be talked to etc. but I'd like a bit more control over them when it comes to their stats and growth), the character sheets are a little barebones with no bios, and level ups/the morality system seem to focus 80% of its skills and buffs around combat oriented abilities - which is odd when the bulk of the game actually feels like a social affair and talking to people is of more importance (granted I've only played the beginning areas so if the game does get more combat heavy later on it'll become a little more understanding)

A lot of people are salty about the price too, which honestly is understandable. (Even though it's super cheaper at places like GmG, some people like to zero in on steam's RRP all the time and ignore all other avenues for some reason)
At the end of the day you do have to reconcile with the fact that it has a RRP similar to games like Disco Elysium, and probably offers less.

I reckon Drop bear Bytes ought to put the demo back up again since I'm seeing a lot of these threads of curious people. Shame they took it down in the first place. :/

I haven't gotten that deep yet, but the game so far seems pretty good. Maybe 6/10. Should be 7/10 once they fix it up a bit. Combat is okish, but definitely is underdeveloped. Content is there, it just depends whether you like that type of content or not. If you like exploring interesting enviroments and talking to npcs then there is plenty of content. But if you just want to rush through the story then probably not.

its dialog choice heavy, with combat and RPG elements sprinkled in. I'm a few hours in, and enjoying it. if you want more combat-heavy play shadowrun or deadstate, but this's EXACTLY like both of those, except more dialog/choice heavy. this's a blast from the past to me and I'm loving every second of it. real palette cleanser from all the trash being released these days.

Combat is extremely basic and simple, don't expect much. Everything else is boring and lacking direction.

There's more than enough content for solid 30 hours on a first blind run, if you read everything and interact with everyone. The combat system itself is pretty good, it has all the basic functionality of a proper turn based tactics game: cover system, overwatch, attacks of opportunity and then adds some magic on top for good measure.

like reading a very boring novel, the first book of game of thrones is much more engaging compared to this game, after watching the gameplay in youtube, i decided not to buy the game

I'm about 6hrs in and it feels very unpolished. It literally misses hotkeys for reload, end turn, you can't remap hotkeys and main quests are "timed". After reaching the point where you can explore the world map i failed 5 main quests just by traveling around, very nice design.
