Only way to save your dignity devs is by releasing your code and allowing the mod community to have at this maybe something real cool will come out of it

Agree because I'm pissed I bought this last month or so thinking maybe devs would start caring about their project but it's clear it was all for money grabs. The fact they made a whole new stupid side game within Zenith when they could've idk maybe added new content to the mmo things could've been good

If it's only been a month since you bought it Steam may still honour a refund, despite being over the usual timespan for one.

The lack of trading in an MMORPG and the excessive nerfing of healers was enough to know this game was going to sh*t.

I feel one of the biggest reasons for the big reception of the game was lack of direct competition. I wonder how many sword art online fans were players for instance. VRMMOs were a sleeper demand and Zenith was one of the first to have a playable version.
this. with the right funding and decisions, it would easy be one of the most played vr games just because so many people want an sao like vrmmo.
Instead, they release this "thing" and forgot about the real game.

Be nice to have access to the server & client build, with the ability to connect to private servers via your client. If this ever fully goes down, similar to what spell break did.

It literally sounds they have a gun to their head talking about all this. Either that or a teleprompter. Crazy. It sounds like AI its so fake.

This has been and remains the favorite VR game of my 6 year old and mine. The movement system is where you did very well. You also did great with the various differences between the regions and the size of the map.

The thing Zenith lacks is depth, and cosmetics. The new player re-work was a nice start to a story, but the world lore feels like a pleasant conversation about the weather. I don't care about the characters. The whole place is beautiful and creative but emotionless. There are no inner conflicts. Most of the mechanics feel similarly bland. The cooking is a cool idea, but takes too long, and feels like a tedious punishment for very little reward. Equipment and the dust system are similarly boring. Every piece of equipment looks mostly the same. There isn't any super cool looking mega armor that makes me want to grind for resources for hours to get it and show off. Not that there's much for resources to grind for, or shops to purchase really rare or unique equipment from. The different classes are great, and it's fun to start new characters and try the 3 different ones. The moves and spells and such don't interact between players though. It would be great if skills could play off each other and synergize between players. That would keep people around too. The skill tree rework was great, but upgrading skills still doesn't feel much like a reward, the way it does in other games. It feels more like "oh, I guess there's a skill I can upgrade now", rather than a desire to work towards that upgrade.

Your game IS good. That's why people flood back for a bit every time you update something. But it needs a REASON for people to come back. Keep the servers running, continue to maintain the game, but take this hiatus to study what makes other (non-VR) MMO's really shine and keep people coming back. Don't rip off ideas, but look at the general concepts of what is working for them, and WHY people return to those games every day. And your should consider developing a specific part of your company which has the sole purpose of community outreach/ feedback. The players who love your game will tell you what they want, and where to grow.

Good Luck.

I'm going to argue that it's VR that RamenVR really doesn't understand, not MMOs. To be fair, a lot of people don't understand VR. I'm copying a comment I made on another Zenith-related thread in reply to someone else's comment which was "VR is dead".

Here was my reply to "VR is dead" (and what I believe was truly wrong with Zenith):

No, it's not, but the mentality of game designers needs to catch up with the technology and the psychology of VR. In fact, I would hold Zenith up as the perfect example of everything that should not happen in a VR game.

Mindless, repetitive tasks (a.k.a. grinding) is not good in a VR game because you have to be physically and mentally present in VR. There is no scripting your character to auto-grind, leaving and coming back days later.

Mindless, repetitive motions (in the case of Zenith, the combat, the cooking, the pokeball minigame they added, etc) is not good in a VR game because the interaction is only one way. The player is interacting with the game, but the game is not interacting with the player (so to speak). Good VR gameplay involves a real-life learning curve. It has to be a skill that the player can actually improve on IRL.

Mindless, repetitive waiting is not good in a VR game because (as already stated), you have to be present physically and mentally. In IRL, there are very few activities less fun than just having to stand around and wait. If no one wants to do it IRL because it's just not an enjoyable task, how could it possibly make a good VR game mechanic?

Mindless, repetitive failure (in Zenith, this would be those machines to craft and upgrade weapons) is not only not a good VR mechanic, it's just in general a terrible mechanic. It would be one thing if there was a discernible reason for an in-game failure --- you're skill level was too low so your weapon stats came out crummy, you accidentally angered more enemies than you were equipped to handle and you died, etc --- but random failures for no other reason than to waste resources that the player has spent time and energy gathering serves only to frustrate the player. Can't remember the last time I said to a friend IRL "hey, you want to do something fun?" and they replied "Oh yeah! Let's do the most frustrating activity we can think of!". Why have I never had a conversation like this? Because people don't want to be continually frustrated.

Restricting gameplay is not good in a VR game. Especially one that is "open world". If you restrict the activities a player can participate in (i.e., you can only get rewards the first time you do a dungeon and you have to wait 24 hours before you can do it again, or you have to stand around for 10 mnutes with nothing to do to wait for this event to spawn), you are going to end up with bored, frustrated players.

Forcing gameplay is not good in a VR game. If your game is lacking in things to do, finding ways that require the player to do the same things/areas over and over and over again is not the solution. When players are so bored with your content that they find exploits to bypass it, the problem is not the player, it's the content (or lack their of) and at that point the game becomes a chore. I know of no person who has fun doing chores. Why would a game turned into a chore be expected to be fun?

Lack of variety is not good in a VR game. One area contains one, maybe two enemy types. Each enemy does the exact same attack. Enemies in later areas are just re-skinned versions of early-area enemies. Bosses are just a scaled, possibly re-skinned version of the enemy type of the area. Most quests in the game can be boiled down into one of 4 categories --- 1.) kill X number of enemies, 2.) collect X number of items (which only falls from one type of enemy), 3.) go to a location, or 4.) Kill a certain number of things within a timelimit (which is arguably the same as 1).

I could not have said it better myself. You literally hit every single point that made me stop playing the game shortly after release.

I will say with over 600 hours in this game. if you wouldve just fixed the original classes and raid content, you would've retained more than 50% of your OG player base. with so many of us voicing our concerns about how these bugs would destroy any future content and the want to do it, and the blatant disregard from the team. even leading to outright bans from the discord server for voicing opinions about how someone just wanted to play a class without getting sidelined for a cyber ninja.

the letter to the community is shallow coming from devs who show no care for their player base to begin with.

No one wanted infinite realms. Not a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ person.

What we wanted was less lag, bug fixes and QOL updates.

You didn't even have to add content, you could've just refined what was there.

Instead you took the easy route every time. Create a new starting point, add a single traversal option on the new island and no where else, and add procedurally generated seasonal content with micro transactions.

Can we delete characters yet? Basic features aren't in the game. There were game breaking bugs every where.

Instead of fixing it, you add micro transactions, seasons, and procedurally generated content?

We told you what we wanted. We were actually very vocal and polite.

Instead you made fake accounts to bully players, wrote fake responses to negative reviews, played damage control on the forums and discord.

You did this to yourself. And believe me, I won't touch anything with your name on it.

Good riddance.

I like the one random guy giving clown awards to honest responses.

Most likely a RamenVR employee and the same account that tries to bully people on the forums.

You failed, your game failed, you will continue to fail while you put these trash videos with your fake smile. Why does she look at the ground so embarrassed when you talk about money?

What does she know that we don't? Your body language is very telling in this video.

Chris Brown is better at being accountable.

I'm mostly wondering why it took 4-5 days to make this announcement here. The youtube video was posted on the 12th.

Four extra days of sales, my dude. Look at their fake smiles while they read from a script.

They're fake. They're professional liars.

Look at the unfulfilled Kickstarter rewards. This isn't new for RamenVR. This is par for the course.
TideFury 2024 年 8 月 7 日 上午 1:25
Ramen has never cared about the community. Their ideal player is a devoted fanatic who accepts all their decisions and does not allow himself any criticism.

That's what they achieved. Their entire target audience is now in Discord and consists of 10-15 people. The rest have long since stopped caring about this garbage.
Words @TNEQL 2024 年 8 月 7 日 上午 4:53
Did they ever reverse their bans of players in game for leaving honest negative reviews?
MrParadoxxx666* 2024 年 8 月 20 日 下午 3:05
As someone who purchased and returned on the Quest store a few years back, this announcement sounds like great news, and an opportunity for me to finally download and experience the game how it was meant to be played and published.

Best of luck on future endeavors, please publish to Steam again!!
