Why? You didn't have anought mmorpg non-vr? Zenith can be non-vr, but without cross-play(vr+nonvr)

Get them into VR, I think that's the point here.

According to the bot in the discord: "Zenith is planned to be available for Oculus Rift, Rift S, Quest, Quest 2, SteamVR, PSVR, and desktop PC, and is intended to be cross platform between as many of these as possible."

I really hope this game isn't set up for non-vr. If we are trying to accommodate for button based play that is going to severely limit the capabilities that would be available for VR based combat. If you have one set of users that are simply pressing a button vs. players that have to manually block and attack certain points it creates a very different play experience. I'd prefer to have a full functioning skill-based VR that rewards good play. If you have desktop users that are able to be rewarded for simply spamming buttons and being lazy while some people are standing and moving around, dodging and blocking attacks and facing real-world fatigue, then there should be differences in the combat engine to accommodate. I'm going to be severely disappointed if this is just a normal turn-based style MMO in a VR world.

In steam it clearly informs: "Notice: Requires a virtual reality headset. See the VR Support section for more info."

I'm wondering how a desktop version would work, physic based movement, with button presses like octodad, would be pretty funny though.
"If you don't have VR yet, you'll be able to play Zenith on your desktop, too! " right from their kickstarter page lol so i assume at some point it will happen.

They're planning on releasing desktop mode in the future. Not sure what all the negative comments are for.. desktop has been part of the plan for long time.

The negative comments are kind of understandable (in the sense that i understand people have a lack of brain cells and cant read), people are worried the game will be dumbed down in some way to accommodate non-vr players, the devs have stated pretty clearly that this is a vr first game, i'm totally cool with non-vr players, but THEY will be the ones who have to get used to awkward controls and things not feeling right, after all, they are the ones who chose to play a vrmmorpg on a flatscreen.

i'd rather see them focus on making one good game than over diversify. much of the games charm is because it's leveraging vr mechanics. climbing a tree to pick fruit in a mouse and keyboard seems awkward or like it would be skipped for a "hold A for oranges" button

it's rewarding grabbing that crystal tear as you glide between two Poi's, if you simply clicked "e" to pick it up you lose a lot of the games appeal.

I dont think they will make this nonvr they lose potential metaverse attention

I'm not really sure what the point of a pancake version would be. I know it's early access but the game is fairly mediocre in terms of all mmos that came before it. The main reason it stands out is the fact that it's a VR mmo. Right now my main enjoyment comes from cooking and force feeding people things, I'm already kinda tired of combat.

I imagine it will somewhat resemble what its like to play The Forest or Phasmophobia with pancake players. They just have less options and capability than the VR players. I wouldn't worry about it hindering the VR player experience and I can't really think of an example of a game that was the case. Every time it's just been the VR player having a more immersive and more interactive experience.

Its a VR MMO. It wont be ever not in VR, theres literally dozens of non VR MMO. This is built from the groundup for VR and it would be doing the VR players a disservice to put development time towards non VR players and systems.
