Youtube isn't even in the same form of media, so you bringing it up is entirely pointless.
If you're really that paranoid just use a 3rd party chat service to talk about your spicy edgieboi topics.
Hopefully you can use this as a moment to gain some insight into how it must feel to be the person constantly told that they need to change and avoid toxic people just to be able to enjoy the game they paid for.
For years I have had to listen to toxic people say racist and sexist things. "Well just block or ignore them" Well this is the kind of behavior that is going to discourage people from using chat.
Believe it or not but most women don't like being sexually harassed every time they use a microphone, so most of them just shut it off, the very thing you're so afraid of happening has been happening to other people.
It's great that companies are actually starting to enforce the social guidelines they put in place. Maybe my wife, sisters, daughter, and nieces will be able to speak in voice chat without spending half the session blocking and muting people.
My stressed friend. It isn't about someone being edgy but how what mod or but determines what will be. For instance streamers playing "controversial games." Twitch's chat bots randomly decided the word trans was a bannable word. Just because of how toxic people became over Hogwarts.
The problem with these systems is they evolve and decide randomly that something harmless or normal becomes bad due to the context of conversations with those words. You then can have mods that feel certain conversations which can be completely safe, are all of a sudden the worst things a person can say.
Writing off automated systems because they aren't a game is just disingenuous. These are trainable systems that automate functions, doesn't matter if its on a game or a media platform they still function in the same or similar manner. You going to tell me youtube doesn't have a bot scanning audio for the content of what people say?
Would be far better if it was just a mute system that a player could choose to unmute the person that has been flagged. Having a separate icon above their name denoting this.
