Garden Simulator
Introduction to the Game - All you need to know before and after you got this Game
Greetings.
As Part of the Gardengnomes (Close Beta Testers) I have help the Team over the last Weeks to made the Game better and hope it will help you before and after you have buy the Game.
First to say, I'm German, so sorry if I do writing Errors.

The Game
Well first you need to know, this Game is a casual Game, so you have no RP Elements, other NPC and you can't compare it with most of the Farming Simulator Games on Steam.
You are someone who give up his Job to take over the old House of your Family.
You can grow Plants, Flowers, Vegetables and Fruits and sell them.
You can mow the Grass, remove Weeds and decorate the Garden with some Items.
So this is a Game to relax, maybe after you had a stressfull Day at the real Job and for that you not need a complicated Game.

What can I do?
First, you not sell your Stuff at a Store, it will be sold when you harvest it.
Aditional you earn Gardencoins (the Currency in the Game) by trowing Trash in the Dumpster.
You can find Gold Nuggets while digging with the Shovel and get good Money for it, even you "sell" it to the Dumpster.
I would sugest you not to sell them directly, instead place them on the Table with the Laptop and use it as Reserve Money.
You get more Money if you use the skill Book.

Skills
In the Skills Book at the House you can place Skillpoints you earn over Time to made your Watering better, get more Money or Fertilizer.
Like in Fallout too, its always good to invest in more XP first.
After this you can choose if you want a faster Watercan or more Income, but I would sugest Watering first.

Quests
There are 16 repeating Quests you can get over the Mailbox plus the Main Quests.
Just open the Box when you got an Offer and do what are asked.
The Job will be finished automaticly as soon you have done all Points.
You can't deny a Job after open the Mailbox, so if you not want to do a Job, ignore the Box.

How to get more Stuff?
You get all Items in the Store, in the Laptop on the Table.
The most is locked, but if you click it you see what to do to unlock them, like harvest 10 Flowers of a Type.
I sugest to aim for the Sprinklers as soon as possible.
They water your Fields so you not need to do it yourself.
A good covering with them is, if you place with Grid and place one Sprinkler every 2 Steps.
You can water Planters with them as well.
Weed and Grassbags you can use with the Composter to create Fertilizer.
A Grassback is enough to fill an Composter by 100%, Weed add 20%.
You can use the Fertilizer to raise the Quality of the Plants. but it will not grow faster.
Grassbags and Gold Nuggets actual can't be stored in the Storage, but i hope it will be added later.

Anything a new Player should know?
- You can Place Tools next to the Laptop at the Wall
Mowers at the Fence, Grassseeds on the floor, Watering Cans on the Shelfes, Shovels on the Holders.
The Brush is on the Side of the front left Pillar, it has no visible Storage at the Moment.
- Plants can be mowed, so be carefull.
- Fertilizer and Plants grow over Night and they need Water every Day, but they can't die by not watering them (will not grow as well).
- Don't place stuff to close to the Dumpster or it could be trashed (keep min. 10 cm space).
- Stuff can fall out of the Garden (over the Fence) and will be deleted after some Seconds and you get no Money for the Stuff.
- If you buy something by accident, trow it in the Trash and you get your Money back.
The Money will reduce over Time.
- The Gardenshack is useable, just walk against the Door to open it.
You can use it to store Grassbags.
The Shack will close itself after sleeping in your House.
- you can store every Item in the Storage, except Grassbags, Gold Nuggets, Trash and the anoying Cat. ;-)
- You can use the Brush to change the Furcolor of the Cat (Tabby, Black, Gray) and the most Decorative Items in the Shop.
- The Mower Bot will avoid your Plants if you place Stones or Fences.
He will also not mow Points where a Grassbag is, so you need to take it away and store or use it on the Composter or sell it in the Trash.

After all, the Game will get maybe more Content over Time and some Problemy you find will be fixed, so give the Game a Chance as a nice small Game who aim to give you a relaxing Time.

Thanks for this. I have some more questions though.

Is there anywhere, other than in the game, to see how many different types of a kind of thing we have to place? For example, I like the stone walk, is there only 2 versions of it, as shown in the trailer?

In sims 3/4 there are various versions of things, is there anywhere to get a feel of how many different items we can use to make our garden?

Thanks again
If you mean the Ammount of Stuff to Place for a Quest, its in the Info on the right Side.
If you mean how much to place to unlock an Item like the Path, look in the shop, click on Path and you see what you need on the right side of the Window.
For a Way you can use Wooden Bases or Path, with some work you can use stones too, even made them in different color, but Decorations are actual not much in it.
After all it is just an Garden Simulator, not an Garden Designer.
I think the best you can call this an Allotment Garden.
I hope there will be more Irems added in future Updates, special Bushes and Trees, Lights and simple Decorations.

Right, but that means I'd have to buy the game in order to see how many items I could use.

Can't the dev just post a few pics from that page as a head's up for prospective buyers of how much customization is in the game? The pictures he does show only show scenes of the garden when placed, not what you can use to MAKE up the garden.
Well if you want to made a path, you can use different Methods.
the Wooden Fondations, Paths, Stones, you can even use the shovel if you want to have dirt under the Paths.
But the Deco Items are actual not much, maybe 20 if you ifnore the Gnomes and building Elements.
Theres actual no Database online and I'm not sure if a Screenshot would help you.
