Quick question on Titanoboa
The Titanoboa is so cute, but although mine is killing and eating numerous insects, the hunger is still depleting. Does it have a different food source? Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Well I just changed how hunger restoration works slightly. Now if a corpse has less meat on it than the bite size of the dinosaur trying to eat it, then it only restores as much hunger as the dinosaur has flesh left on its body, instead of the dinosaur's bite size' amount of hunger.

So a bug with .1 flesh on it no longer restores the bite size of the eater if the eater's bite size is bigger than that .1. So in the case of titanoboa having a huge 200,000 bite size (it uses bite size differently since its the only thing that can swallow prey in one bite), it uses the size of its body's width instead, the titanoboa restores .1 hunger instead of the huge bite size number.

So thanks for catching that, I need to bump up the amount of hunger that is restored by bugs. I'll put out an update fixing this in just a few minutes.

Larger prey restores more hunger though.

I changed a few creatures' max flesh amount.
Isopod/Ant/Spider/Mantis 0.075 -> 10
Megenuera .3 -> 25
Compsognathus 6 -> 50
Trilobite 10 -> 100
So now our smaller creatures should now restore a more noticeable amount of hunger for the titanoboa and have a few more bites of food on it for other smaller creatures to eat.

I'm also bumping up their growth points modifiers so the dinosaurs that are eating these bugs are going to grow faster now.
Isopod 2-> 8
Ant 4 -> 12
Spider 6 -> 12
Mantis 8 -> 14

Going to take that a little further since they have so little flesh on them that growth point modifier needs to be higher so you get more growth out of the whole calculation. It should make going around feeding on little insects a little more enjoyable and rewarding now too.
Awesome, this feels much better. Thanks for bringing the hunger/food issue to my attention.
Isopod 8 -> 40
Ant 12 -> 60
Spider 12 -> 80
Mantis 14 -> 100

The update is now live!

Awesome, thank you! I'll try out the Titanoboa again now and see how it's working.

Worked much better! Had a hard time finding prey that was small enough and slow enough, but it was fun!

You can go into the game options and turn up the Spawning %'s on the different types of dinosaurs. Just be careful with it because if you raise it too high it'll cost you a lot of FPS. When you change those values you'll need to reload a map, any map and then those new values will take effect until you change them again. That might help you find more prey, otherwise younger dinosaurs do spawn around nests randomly but it can sometimes take them a little while or they might spawn a little further out and start running away from the nest.

Oh, I think I'm close to re-balancing dinosaur speed across the board. After shrinking the dinosaurs down 10x smaller than what they were to fix the scaling issue some of them seem a little quicker than they maybe should be (even after reducing their speed by 10x for size reduction compensation). That could possibly help with you getting prey and just make things feel better in general.

I managed to grow the Titanoboa to elder, so now I can eat everything, which is fun. I especially like the giant fish. And I also like being able to change up maps. Next I'm going to try a flyer.

Cool! It doesn't take too terribly long to grow anything into an elder, though in the future that could change. Also, when I get to adding in non-permadeath characters I may make those take considerably longer to grow since you'll never lose your progress if anything happens to you.

Controls for flyers are a little different. Let me know if you have any trouble with them or need to know anything about them. I tried to get plenty of info into the tutorial popups but I could have missed some stuff. I know I need to add in another tutorial about pressing the F1 key to toggle on/off overhead healthbars for nearby creatures and food.

I downloaded the update, and now mouse controls don't seem to work. Is it something I did?

I'm getting ready to release Update 0.10.5.6g, when you get to try that one let me know if it is or isn't working and I'll take a look.

I played Quetz for a while - really fun! The flying is easy, which is nice. Soon I'll try an aquatic. The game looks and runs much better thanks to the changes you've been making!
