Controller Support?
I have a regular xbox series X controller and nothing seems to happen in the demo when I try to use it. I cant even figure out how to get to the controls setting ousing my keyboard. I even tried going into "big picture mode" on steam and when I tried to launch the game with my controller, I got a message saying that the game does now support controllers. I was looking forwards to the demo, sad I cant play it. Anyone have any solutions?

Hi there! Thank you for playing the demo and bringing this issue to our attention! The demo should support controllers, although the process may vary if you're using Bluetooth or if your controller is connected. If you can let us know which one you're doing, we will happily guide you through it!

Otherwise, I'll leave here a set of the most important commands for the keyboard that hopefully will make things easier:

WASD to move
Spacebar to Jump/Confirm UI selection
Quick Attack with Left Mouse Button
Strong Attack with F
Backdash with Shift
Move Apino with Mouse
Shoot with Right Mouse Button
Recover Shield by holding the right mouse button
Esc to Pause
Hold Q to skip dialogues/move back to UI screens

Let me know if this was helpful!

I tried with the controller plugged in and it worked. The main menu was very "laggy" with the controller but the rest of the game felt fine. Bluetooth support is lacking maybe?

I played through it with my DualSense over Bluetooth. No issues for me.

I can't use the controller either, I have mine plugged in, tried both my Xbox One Controller and PS4 controller and neither work, it's only this demo that seems to be an issue as I can play other games just fine.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to try the demo and share your feedback!

Dusty New Year, if you can share your computer's specs, we'll find a way to help you out so you don't miss out on anything!

I tried an Xbox Elite v1 controller using both the wireless 2.4ghz dongle and connected via USB, both non-responsive. I tried my Steam controller using the 2.4ghz dongle, nada. I tried my 8bitdo pro 2 over bluetooth using the x-input setting it didn't work. Then I tried the D-Input mode over cable, didn't work. Finally whatever the A mode on the controller is (I can't remember) gave me unplayably laggy input like previously mentioned (USB cable).

This was all on my Windows 10 PC, when I tried using the steam deck over proton GE the input was great but the graphics were borked and it crashed.

I have given up on the demo and uninstalled it.

Ditto, controller support completely non responsive using a xbox one controller wired into my system

For me it was inconsistent. Most of the time everything worked, but occasionally pausing would stop working, but it usually came back eventually. Later, I paused, but it wouldn't let me unpause. I'm using an Xbox compatible Logitech controller.

Same. X box controller no worky. Couldn't get past the hold RT prompt because I couldn't figure out what RT was mapped to on the keyboard.

Is this anywhere in game? When I launched the game in 2560x1080 resolution, the starting screen is cut off so I can't see what option I'm selecting, but the 'options' menu didn't seem to work. With the in game menu - when it doesn't crash the game, there's also no options setting to look at controls. On that end also when playing kb+m on dual monitors I had to switch to single monitor because the mouse can move off to the next screen.

There's really no reason why this game needs to be played with a controller. I'm annoyed but I can understand for a demo if the developer has only set one configuration for the in game tutorial, but you can't do that then never mind not having he option to re-bind controls but not even having a window to show what they are? My demo playtime ended because twice my teddy ran out of energy the first time stopping me from proceeding through a door, and I couldn't figure out what to do. I had the indication that I had to give teddy a huggy, but mashing all the keys nothing happened.

I see here that what you need to do is hold down right click. As things are with the demo I suspect very few k+m players are going to be able to figure that out in game.

I was using the official dongle with an XBOX One gamepad with no problems at all (connected using bt). Worked like a charm. Maybe try to update your gamepad firmware for your XBOX gamepad using the xbox accessioes app.
Still amazed that this is a problem in 2025. I'm using an extremely standard Logitech gamepad that was working fine up until this screen. There is literally no way past the "press RT" screen without pressing the correct button. You can't even hit start or esc to get back to the options menu to try to figure out what the hell RT is actually supposed to do or what alternate keybinding it might be bound to. Even if you'd previously looked at the keybinding screen, there is zero context provided for what this button is supposed to do at this early point in the game. After hitting literally every single button on my keyboard and CTRL-ALT-DELETEing out of the game twice, I came here out of frustration and eventually figured out it was the right mouse button, which is the least intuitive thing to be pressing in this scenario.

Once I got past that screen, RT resumed worked exactly like it was supposed to on my controller from that point forward, but man... it's not a good look to leave a game-breaking bug like that unfixed for 3 years. At the very least you could change the on-screen text to say "Press RT (or Right Mouse Button)" so people have some clue what they're supposed to do if they run into this issue.
Hi guys. I had the same issue but i discovered something. The RT buttom is mapped to the right click of your mouse. After that, the RT buttom of the joystick works fine. I hope this can help someone.
